The Temple is becoming 3,000 this year. Genosys could probably be anything up to about 5,000 I reckon.

Maybe the Park just feels more open as it doesn't have stuff all around it like West Holts does.

I couldn't buy this at all, West Holts is much bigger

A search on Google shows some sad bastards have discussed this before but didn't get very far..

Sad bastardry needs updating every so often, that was 7 years ago.

A lot of this information is actually out there if you know where to look - so -

From a previous Licence Application:

Pyramid: 90,000
Other: 40,000
Jazz World 25,000

The Pyramid field has been increased in size then so should be about 100,000 now. The others will be unchanged.

From the company (Mobile Structures) that supplies most of the bigger tents:

JP: 11,808
Acoustic: 8,600
Avalon: Doesn't list a capacity but it's shown as 37 metres diameter.

I believe those numbers are before any staging/production goes in, and that after that the JP & Acoustic come out to about 10,000 and 6,000 respectively. I've also been told in the past that Avalon was 3,000 and Williams Green 2,000, but the Avalon Tent now is smaller than it was then.

Didn't they increase the size of the pyramid field capacity in 2013 in anticipation of The Stones pulling a ginormous crowd? I thought I read on here that capacity of that field now is over 100k?

Yeah, the 90k figure pre-dates that. So somewhere around or a shade over 100k would be about right now.

Tallies with much of what I found.

There were also several references to Leftfield having a 5,000 capacity, and one to it being 4,000 (although that was in 2005, the same year as it's capacity was apparently increased). None of the sites were particularly authoritative though, and 5,000 seems a bit on the big side, so I'm leaving that one for now.

Leftfield is now a completely different tent (since it moved location) and fairly sure it's significantly smaller.

looking at the Glastomap overhead photo, the whole area is definitely around the same size. WH is square, whereas The Park is long, but if you condensed it, it'd definitely be close. That's from the Bimble Inn up to the BBC tv studio.

if you include all the hill with the Glastonbury sign/Trickets Bar/Crows Nest, The Park is definitely a larger area.

for just the area in front of the stage that you can watch from, WH is much bigger.

I think this is the main factor here. Where you define the Park stage area starts and ends.

Maybe if this discussion is still raging at the end of the day I'll draw some diagrams in MS paint. For now I really need to get on with some actual work :)

Avalon - 3000. Beat Hotel - 2000.
http://www.tpimagazine.com/glastonbury-2016-the-highlights/ (interesting article for those into tech stuff).

I really like this article.  Most of it is over my head, but it illustrates how much planning, preparation and expertise goes into everything and this makes Glastonbury the wonderful event that it is.

I want to share the article to Facebook, but cannot manage.  Fb responds that it is unable to use the URL.  Any ideas how to get around that?

Thanks :) It's vaguely accurate sure, but far far far from complete.  I want Croissant Neuf ranked correctly!

Have you ranked it yet.. I thought it would be a small tent..
