They def should headline Glasto again. I think when they did it last time, they were replacing U2? And as others have said, it was mostly Plastic Beach stuff which was new at the time. In spite of its reputation now, that album was actually considered underwhelming by many fans after Demon Days from where I was sitting. It only became considered a modern classic in the years following its release.

Aye they were like a last minute replacement after Bono severely injured himself.

Tbf, my only time seeing Gorillaz was at a festival following The Killers, which given how good Brandon and the gang are as a live act is no mean feat, and on that evening, I thought what they had to offer was really good. I do reckon if they got the Glasto offer again, they'd go down well.

Damon would need to accept the offer - and given everything he's said about last time I'd be surprised if he was keen.

Which do we think he'd be more interested in - that or Coachella? I've seen his comments about not enjoying what they have to offer.

Yeah last time was 16 years ago and give. He has been back 5ish maybe more times since then I'm not sure anything around last time is relevant any more to current. He loves Glastonbury that's clear enough.

Tour finishes in April on a rethink I think they are a prime candidate.

I'd say they would easily be a more popular headliner choice  than a lot of acts that have done it recently.

Bought the new album at the weekend and am loving it. Had been doubting my decision to bite the bullet and fork out for the gig at Tottenham in June but am now glad I did (notwithstanding am not overly enthused by the venue itself, nor the ticket price).

Damon guested with Billie Eilish at Coachella in 2022.  Gorillaz then subbed Bad Bunny at Coachella in 2023.  I think this then led to Blur being invited the year after.  It was a poor fit imo to start with then Blur mysteriously doubled down with a relatively weird setlist.

Looking at Blurs setlist for Coachella id love it but yeah i guess people only knowing the bigger songs -   Absolute gems like Trimm Trabb & Death Of A Party that Blur fans would be delighted with - might have been a bit lossed on Coachella crowds

Controversial opinion I'm sure but I think that West Holts is the best fit for them as a headliner.  Sure they have a fair few mainstream hits, but the majority of their recorded output (including the current album) is much more esoteric than fits the Pyramid stage.  It holds a crowd of about 30k I believe, which is more than their largest gigs when touring.

That really is controversial!

Gorillaz keep going up levels since 2010 and could headline Glastonbury no problem. West Holts def too small for them.

Agreed or Other at a push, pyramid headliner would not work again due to the relative lack of commercial hits.

I mean ive seen them play 50k and they look like they have at least half sold out the tottenham hotspurs stadium which is 70K for a gig -  so they would need to up Other stage minimum

Probably be a more popular headliner Choice with the Glastonbury Public than - SZA, Neil Young and the 1975 but less popular than Other Stage headliners  Lana Del Rey, Prodigy and Charli XCX.

I would love it if they did get another shot at headlining, with a longer lead time from booking to prepare a one-off show.

Jamie Hewlett is a great British talent that somehow has never received the kind of recognition that his stature as an artist deserves.  He is a great visual artist in many mediums with an instantly recognisable style that has been hugely influential in modern cartoon art.  I also owe him a quid still, from a signing in the late 80s where he lent me a quid to buy a copy of deadline for him to sign.

They have a great catalogue of actual bangers, and you could easily fill a headline slot with nothing but guest spot after guest spot.  It's just that their album's are often fairly conceptual self contained works and while a show for each and any of those works, having some of that material in a headline slot feels incongruous.

    • Best of all is to get the tram, then call a taxi for very short not-rip-off ride once in the centre.
    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
