You're right of course, but she's hardly going to say "thanks for subbing, Biffo but you're never gonna be good enough to headline."

Fair point, but it's the Flo/Kasabian principle again. If Grohl broke his leg again, they'd probably be the ones to step up.

*big, not good. If we were going on the merits of "being good enough", then there's a few bookings I'd like to discuss with her and her definition of "good" :P

That's about the size of it.

Though as far as I'm aware there's nothing preventing her being third down on the Friday.

Are there any constraints on when Royle Blood can play?

They're almost definitely playing Friday as they're in Germany the rest of that weekend. Not to say they couldn't sub Other or something similar.

The lineup poster looks telling: we have the Other headliners in order, Pyramid headliners in order, so presumably Pyramid subs in order too. The next line? Who knows where it breaks down.

Also, Andrew Trendell who did the article (and probably the bulk of NME articles nowadays) did the article on the Other Stage headliner and said about The xx subbing Radiohead. Also the guy who tweeted about The National on the Pyramid, I think. This guy's the crypt keeper.

Full credit to the people who were calling Biffy under Ed then. That is one hell of an interesting placement, but not too surprising in hindsight - Biffy will be established to a lot of Ed fans who will recognise Many of Horror, Moutnains, Black Chandelier et al.

Interesting comments about the acts playing this year who she views as future headliners. There's a couple in there who've probably dropped off as well, similar to Biffy - but fair play to EE for mentioning them. Would love in 2020 for Biffy to top the Pyramid - not too implausible either going by her words.

Just posted in the Biffy thread, I have been pretty surprised that they weren't picked out as pretty likely headliners of the other. They are certainly big enough! Up against Ed does seem the sensible choice for me? pop vs something more rock for people not interested in Ed.

Do people need reminding of Neil's 'joke' tweet suggesting Perry could sub Radiohead...?

This does seem an oddly real possibility right now. But still sticking for The XX.

You're probably right there. Can't ever see them being booked as headliner though. But out of the three subs, it's them that look the most likely to have the "but if" clause in their contract.

Point.

Stranger things have happened though.

So, where can I expect to see you if not at the Biff?

So my weekend is shaping up;

Radiohead/The xx/Royal Blood

TBC/The National/The Avalanches

TBC/TBC/TBC

Looks like Solange is Swedge's first big clash casualty of 2017

Only if The Jacksons are playing for as long as Foo Fighters.

That's a good point actually. Dave penchant for running around for 3 hours at a time could finally work in our favour

Three hours just makes the Avalanches clash worse. Though I suppose its good for Solange.

It's like Brexit all over again.

Tbf going off kingcrawler's clashfinder prediction, which I'd say has realistic stage times, you'd only miss Toots and the Maytals for yer Katy Perry trip and maybe a bit of whoever's before to assure a good spot. And Tooter and the lads are everywhere this year aren't they? Probably wouldn't be so bad.

Biffy under Ed on Sunday - Confirmed.

“The thing with Biffy is that they’re obviously a massive headliner and they were headlining Reading last year, but they’re going to be playing under Ed Sheeran on Sunday, and I think that’ll be huge. We’re really grateful, and incredibly lucky to have bands that are that size to want to play and be up for playing in those slots as well.”

Biffy aren't a massive headliner now, right at this minute bar Scotland they are only just about a headliner now but obviously they will big it up.

Glad we got that sorted then!

Really we should have done that from the off lol, I think people just didn't see The XX and The National following each other as subs but then we have to remember that FF set with make the sub almost 3rd. We also have to remember that Pyramid Saturday is also going to look a tad shite compared to how it did. I do get the thought it Lorde doing Other sub mind with Royal Blood 3rd down Friday and Perry Saturday.

I'm happy with that now it's confirmed Biffy are defo on the Pyramid, it's probably going to make the choice for me to go Download after work on the Friday...if I can bring myself to make that decision.

This does go though with the idea that FF with Biffy before is just something that is way too Reading to be at Glastonbury.

Only chance of this happening is if your Chic on WH prediction comes true I guess. Got my fingers lightly crossed for you (although not too much cause I'd prefer Justice..)

Ed, Biffy, Chic and Gibb is big.

That would suck. Katy Perry is going to cause me so many problems no matter what day she is if she is third down.
