Swine_Glasto2014
Just a email from Glastonbury. Dear campervan / caravan ticket holderWe're writing to let you know that, due to the rainfall on the GlastonburyFestival site over the past couple of days, we need to push back the opening ofthe east and west campervan fields by a few hours. Both of the fields will now open at 6pm on Tuesday, 21 June. Please note that any vehicles which arrive before 6pm will be turned away (withno exceptions). We would also expect there to be some congestion at 6pm, so would suggestcoming a few hours later than that if you are able to.We apologise for any inconvenience this causes - but this is being done toensure that the campervan / caravan fields are in the best possible conditionwhen they open.Thank you for your understanding.See you very soon!Glastonbury Festival
CaledonianGonzo
It's gonna be a pain for a lot of people, but it's a smart move, I think.
eFestivals
it means that EVERYONE will turn up at 6pm ... it's gonna be absolute chaos Edited June 20, 2016 by eFestivals
Jamie D
Massive balls. I wonder if it's just to give the field time to dry or if they are doing something to improve conditions?
richcressey
Annoying as I pick my camper up at 1 about an hour from the site so will just have to go sight-seeing/to the pub for a few hours. Either way if they think it's necessary I'd rather they get it right and there is time for the fields to recover. Expect heavy queuing

Slugworth
Well thats just fucked up all plans. Need a rethink now. I didn't get the email, everyone else get it?
Smeble
Yep it will be utter chaos, nobody will want to get there after dark if the conditions are bad, getting stuck and being towed is one thing when you can see what you are doing, quite another in the dark
festivalred
Nope

Smeble
Can't see it drying out much between noon and 6 so they must be doing some work to the fields, personally I think they should have left things as they were, surely it's got to be easier to get everyone in over a long period of time rather than all at once at 6? Guess it depends what they are doing.
Swine_Glasto2014
Traffic is going to be absolute chaos, people will still leave early and park on the roads. The police womt be impressed. I domt know wether to stick to plan A and still arrive around 10am. With this wind and sun its going to dry quick
The other Bellboy
Does anyone know a good local place to park up to wait for an hour or 2 as i will be getting there around 4.30pm? This is not welcome news, but hopefully it will be for the best
Splatt
Makes me wonder what the general car parks will be like. I know camper vans etc are bigger and heavier but for sheer volume of traffic the car parks are going to take a beating.
Smeble
Podimore services on the a303 at the bottom of the a37 is the closest services, but it's not very big and it will be rammed.
The other Bellboy
I'm now thinking of arriving at 4 or 5 am on the Wednesday morning, will there be much traffic getting around the top of the site as i come from the East?
Michaels denim shorts
The police are going to have a field day in the service stations. Hide your wares well people
Deslynam
If you want to spend a few quality hours in the dry locally, pop down the road to the Fleet Air Arm museum at RNAS Yeovilton, it's only 20minutes away.
