nothing's impossible, tho if they were playing glasto they'd very probably headline and Emily has ruled them out of that and its unlikely she's telling porkies.

I'm wondering if they might, just perhaps, open the other stage on the friday. That's got to be about the only realistic - tho still remote - possibility.

Absolutely no chance.

If it stayed completely quiet, like as quiet as they've managed so far with other gigs then it's just about possible.

The entire festival would turn up for it. Health and safety nightmare.

Surely not.. that would be pandemonium

I still think that Emily quote could be interpreted as BOTH Daft Punk and The Stone Roses aren't headlining.. but I'm clutching at straws, like I have been for the last 4 years. It's gotta be Foo Fighters and Ed now..

If there's no announcement until the day everyone will turn up anyway expecting something massive.

Not necessarily, the field didn't pack put for previous one's we didn't know about. I think it was only The Charlatans and James we totally knew about.

There is absolutely no chance what so ever that the Stone Roses will open up the other stage. There is more chance of Morrisey doing it while eating an endless supply of Big Macs and chicken nuggets, with Mike Joyce playing the drums.

Beady Eye was known the day before and was pretty busy. It's always an academy sized act. None of the acts who have played before are anywhere near as big as the Roses, I can't see how they'd keep it quiet. People have unrealistic expectations of that slot, I wonder if this is why they've started announcing in advance. No news would lead to people assuming it's something special.

Was easy to pick up cheap Etihad tix around the day before. I considered going but travel costs and finding somewhere to stay stopped me bothering. If it's the same for Leeds I'll probably go along as I could easily drive there and back.

I don't think there will be cheap tickets for Leeds, I think they will be like rocking horse shit.

And Beady Eye. Only really Kaisers I didn't know about beforehand

Yeah Kaisers, an underwhelming as it was to have a band already on doing it, it was a fun singalong start to the day.

Haha, it's true mate. My comment was said with the most remote chance possible. I'm hoping for Ashcroft but I don't think he'll settle for opening other, he'd need to be 3rd down that stage I would think even though opening would give him more time and probably the extra exposure.

That opening slot has Black Grapes name written all over it for next year.

Someone above suggested that Emily might have been referring to both SR AND DP not playing, i.e. just one of them, but the quote is pretty conclusive :(

“There’s no more [headliner] announcements now for a while, but I will tell you the other two that have been rumoured aren’t happening,” Eavis said.

Well, I think I'd rather buy some black grapes from the fresh fruit market and eat them lol.

One thing I'm going to go back to though is the little cafe Hut in green fields, great little covers set from father and daughter last time.

That 1st album they did is a stone cold classic. Be interesting to hear the new one next year.

Hmmm......Iwouldn't have said that they're a shoe in by any stretch, and for a stone cold classic about 50% of the debut is filler, but *if* Hacienda Classics are playing next year then Kermit, Beaker and Doctor Teeth could all well be in the vicinity.

I shall have to resectfully disagree with your assessment there mate. It still sounds fresh 20 years on and stands out above all the miserable and dark electronic or shouty blah blah guitar music of the time.

At its best it's brilliant - just has a bit too much filter on there.

A lot of its dated a bit, and there's dross like A Big Day in the North on there, but there's 4 or 5 tunes that still hold up.

Much better than Stupid Stupid Stupid and Yes Please!

To be honest, a lot of the Mondays stuff sounds dated to me now. I rarely listen to them to the same extent of other from that period.

Over 70 sodding quid for a ticket?  I'd have 'gotten' it a bit more if this was a first comeback show as in 2012 - but its not - and no new album?  It'll be like going to the same gig several times since 2012.  Thanks but no thanks

For those who are going to go though - First Direct is an fantastic arena, as far as arenas go.  I should probably say this really quietly, but I saw The Courteeners there week before last and they sounded awesome due to the acoustics of the place.  There isn't a shit space on the floor.  I've never sat there, but the design makes the seating pretty close.  It's about a 20 minute walk (if that) from the station and has a multi storey 2 mins away

Just all watch out you don't break a bone there - the floors get dangerously slippy.  The bars are up some stairs from the floor and can get a bit lethal

Easty,

The Cultural Ambassador for Manchester - currently based at UN Headquarters, 1st Avenue, New York - has just been on the phone to Greater Manchester Police issuing a warrant for your arrest for crimes against Mancumanity.

Apparently you have utterly disgraced your kinfolk by spelling Morrissey with one S.

Turn yourself in our kid. And hang your head in shame.
