On Friday afternoon Vince Staples, Gentleman's Dub Club, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and YAK all clash, before I HAVE to see Ezra Furman, who then overlaps with Protoje on West Holts. Then I'll have to sacrifice some/all of White Demin or Explosions In The Sky for Foals, then miss Richard Hawley for Kano.

Saturday Braids and Vessels on Glade overlap with Kurt Vile and Ernest Ranglin at the Park, and I'm going to have to choose which sets I cut short to make the dash between.

I'm tired just thinking about all that rushing around!

Protoje's playing the gully as well earlier that day (wherever that is) so I'm thinking 2 chances to see him.  if at first you dont succeed and all that eh?

Most likely Kano, although I might be able to catch the very start of Protoje whilst waiting around. You gonna try and see one of his slots @zico martin?

I've put his first appearance at the gully in green on my clashfinder but fear it may be a bit too busy and I have to resort to the West Holts afterwards ( and then the beards!)

the annoying bit about the Kurt Vile and John Grant bumping into each other is that while you'd think you could catch a decent amount of either if you're agile and determined, i don't think there's a further distance between 2 of the main venues than The Park and the new location of John Peel...i'll still see both but will miss more because of that distance.

I have the worst clash on sunday night. 5 of the main acts I want to see are Beck, PJ Harvey, LCD Soundsystem, Grimes and Mac DeMarco. How the hell will I be able to work it? I think I'll have to work out that I'll only be able to see 2 full sets out of those 5, and decide on which I want to see. At the moment it's Beck, Grimes and then running over to catch the last half of LCD Soundsystem's set and missing PJ Harvey and Mac DeMarco.

This is definitely the one I'm struggling with most. I think I'm going to watch the start of Beck, pretty much all of PJ Harvey, the rest of Mac DeMarco and then all of LCD!

However, when I planned this in my head, I didn't consider where the new JP tent is.

Does anyone know if it's further away from the Other Stage than it previously was?

I think so, but only slightly. It's been pushed slightly further North West away from Silver Hayes iirc.

I'm trying to figure out the distance between Other and John Peel to get to Mac DeMarco, reckon it's about 30 minutes? Still thinking Grimes after PJ is the only real option for me.

You could do it in 10-15 minutes if you're really quick. I'm only counting from the edges of the crowds, not how long it'll also take to get in/out.

you can do Beck, Grimes easily and with LCD you will miss 25mins as can easily peg down from the park to other in 10 mins maybe less...unfortunately no for the other 2 least you see 3 of them ok

Ha maybe we were just really slow or had no idea where we were going last year because it took us ages to get from stage to stage, need my wits about me I guess.

Ahh I see, not too drastic a change then! Cheers :)

Yeah, I'd echo what Bradders has said. Achievable in 10-15 if you remain on the edge of the crowd when watching the set.

Cool, so I have options then, still leaning towards PJ Harvey then Grimes afterwards at the minute but will probably decide on the day.

Beck / P J Harvey / Show of Hands.

Would have wanted to see all of them.  Will probably go for P J.

Snap!  I think I'm going for Show of Hands as never seen them before and am preferring to avoid the main two stages at peak times

That's it..  I have seen Show of Hands before and much more recently than P J Harvey.  I agree that the Avalon is a much nicer location.

Yep, that is a serious clash for me too.  Saw Ben Miller at Cambridge last tear.  Highly recommended.  I think I will go for the Alarm and have myself a nostalgia day at the Acoustic, also taking in Sharon Shannon and the Hothouse Flowers.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
