It cycles a bit. Josh Widdecombe, Shazia Mirza and Joe Lycett have all been added over the past few years. Tom Binns, Matt Richardson, Jess Robinson, Alex Edelman, Alasdair Beckett-King also acts new in the past couple of years, though don't know if they're on this year.

Jess Robinson has self-confirmed (Friday & Saturday) and is well a worth look.

Caught her last year in a packed Cabaret tent (it was raining and was the only reason I looked in) and she received a full standing ovation. I will be back*.

*Clashes permitting

We're about due an Otway Big Band set.

I was at the Big Band gig at the Acoustic Stage a few years ago. Enjoyed that immensely.

I discovered John during my au pair year in London in 1986-87.  He still plays the same songs and I love catching up with him every couple of years.

so, bit off topic this, but don't know where to ask. Has anybopdy been to see comedy in a  big venue? Louis CK is playiong the UK, but I have an intrinisc fear and anipathy to seeing comedy in an arena. I really fancy seeing him, but Wembley? too big, surely. Is the 3 arena in Dublin any better? or maybe a flight to Prague is the answer. Decisions, decision.

The Point in Dublin is actually bigger than Wembley Arena since the rebuild a few years ago, but is a more appropriate shape for that kind of show. So probably a shade better overall, although not much in it.

ah, right. Thank you.

Checking flights to Prague now. But I guess, the cost of flying to Czech, tickets, hotel etc would cost the same as a trip to Edinburgh for the festival where I could binge on Kitson, Munnery et al for a few days.

The only time I've seen comedy in a venue of that size was Python, which I enjoyed a lot - but that was helped by great seats and by the fact that it was very visual. A one man band affair in a megadome?  Nah. Not even for a reincarnated Peter Cook.

On the other hand I'm seeing Kitson 3 times in 8 days in August for the princely sum of £15, so stick a feather bonnet on that.

The WIP at the Stand or the theatrical thing?

Had a week in Prague in March.  Great city.  Loved it.  Superb food, which I wasn't expecting. Two of the best restaurants I've ever been to - one veggie and one gourmet.  Lots of walking and found a good blues club.

Only people I've seen pull it off are Bill Bailey and Tim Minchin, both with shows especially designed for arenas (with a lot of music).

This was Minchin's opening song:

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
