Camping / Festival Hacks!!

My cannot camp/festival without is one of those horrible cheap blankets with the plastic on the bottom which roll up - £1 from poundland most years. Ace for throwing in a bag so you can sit wherever whenever, no wet butt. Also great for campsite, and in tent for putting bare feet on after a day in wellies.

Don't camp too close to main paths
Camp towards the edge of the field so when it's dark you have less risk of falling onto someones tent.

It's meant to say 'Reward' not refund haha. I had a scare last year (turned out to be in my back pocket...don't go there.) So I kept my lockscreen as that and felt a bit more confident.

look after your feet - they'll be walking you for miles and miles.

If wet/muddy then keep them dry, never put them in a plastic bag (people did this and their toes fell off)

yep - sat talking to a doctor a few years ago and they were treating people with foot rot after some twerp thought putting your feet in plastic bags was a good idea. He said toes were lost - apparently it sets in really quickly.

oh gosh! I can understand if it's sodden. Do you think the same applies if you're wearing multiple pairs of socks?

I would definitely suggest walking boots rather than wellies - can't believe I hadn't tried it sooner (they made their debut last year).

Self inflating mats instead of blowups,after years of bouncing around and waking up on the floor after they deflate in the night I bought one last year,much better will never go back

most likely they have seen it all and done it all , and will be able to make you a brew when you realise you have brought nothing for you to be able to do that.

He said that as long as you have dry feet at some point in the day then all is good.

Make friends with your neighbours - offer them a tea/coffee or (plastic) glass of something.  They will be your best security.  If they know what you look like they'll notice when strangers are around your tent - and vice versa.

Invest in an LED headlamp.  Really helpful for finding your way through a maze of guyropes going back to your tent at night.

They are as comfortable? I've considered one for this year after years of the air bed but can't say they look overly comfortable

This is the best tip ever! I only found out about this last year after years of taking s hooks and leaving them in the loos after the first few pints! Also DONOT use the stand pipes  for anything other than filling containers of water. Nothing more annoying than waiting in line first thing in the morning for a kettle full of water for that first cup of tea of the day while the tweenies wash their hair and brush their teeth ......or worse wash their wellies!

to be fair it did seem like you were being quite snotty with him, it's clear now you weren't but it came across very mardy

 

as far as good festival hacks

 

I think one of the best ones I've read on here was get an empty little bottle of hand santiser and fill it with actually soapy handwash you hands will feel absolutely sublime when you go to wash them

two beer tins can be folded together to make the perfect ashtray for around the camp/in your tent, its much better then chucking ends in a mystery can  and far superior than just chucking your ends on the floor

good cider comes in bags

you wont catch anything from sitting on a toilet seat so just plonk down and get on with it, squatting doesn't work it just makes a mess

those little chemical hand warmers you can get from camping shops can make you feel brilliant on a cold morning

fill a water bottle before you go to sleep, there nothing worse than waking up dehydrated in a roasting tent and not having anything to drink

They're actually pretty decent, I used one for the first time last year. Maybe not as comfortable as a fully blown up bed, however much more comfy than rocks in your back after your blowup starts deflating after an hour of sleep.

More comfortable imo not as nice as a proper bed obviously but depends on which one you get I got a vango comfort 7.5cm thick and am very happy with it
