Everytime I see the words Shappi Korshandi my heart drops a little.  Small comedy gig in central London, and she turned up to try out new material unannounced.  The new material was sadly shit, so nobody laughed, which resulted in her shouting abuse at us all and telling us that she was on the telly, and we were fucking idiots for not laughing,  Horrific.

That's a real shame saw her at Latitude last year and she was really warm with the crowd, maybe a festival crowd are more forgiving and  I'm probably a bit bias as she grew up round the corner from me,never met her though

I saw her at a small gig in London and thought she was pretty good. Was pleased to see her on the line up.

I went to college with Josie Long - she was a quality girl.

Very good point.

I think last time they were on around midday on the Sunday though?

Yep - was midday Sunday.

I turned up at about 10 to (after the obligatory kedgeree breakfast from next door) and wandered pretty much straight in, using the doors around the far side. There was a polite queue of Radio 4 types at the first set of doors (flaps!) by the blackboard.

I think I understood the first five minutes and the universe started off life the size of a football. Also, there was a bang. After that, no idea ....

Brian's got good hair though ...

Josie Long is wonderful person; one of the best (if not the best) stand up comedians in the game, proper intelligent socialist, loves Joanna Newsom.

so:

Block9 (this week)

Glade ("2nd half of May")

Arcadia ("second half of May")

Shangri-La - ????

Block 9 at the beginning of this week and Shangri La at the end of this week would make sense. The other two next week and the full poster and some more info in the last week of May.

Seeing as they love to confuse us, is there any chance the Unfairground, Beat Hotel or Glasto Latino might release a poster? I don't think they have in the past, but #thereisnopattern.

Unfairground has a few times, so could do again I suppose, especially as there's a few stages.

Glasto Latino doesn't really have anything worth announcing separately, based on last year's:

Just been looking at The Thingy (AHTT), and since Silver Hayes there have been alternating gaps of 2 and 3 days until the next announcement.

27 April: Silver Hayes
29 April: The Common
2 May: Leftfield
4 May: Avalon
7 May: Theatre & Circus

...maybe there is a pattern all along?

Heresy!

    • 1 - Mock Media - Rat Bastard 2 - Maquina - Body Transmission 3 - Mary in the Junkyard - Role Model Hermit   Honourable mentions to The Hu - Hun, Madonna - Confessions II, and Swapmeet - Mount Zero for also being solid.   Sadly, really didn't connect with the new Yard Act, a real shame as loved their last two albums and thought this one would be a shoe-in for AOTM, but felt it was a bit too generic..

    • I always fancied going to this one - it had my sort of lineup. Shame.
