They didn't start until 24th April last year...

But didn't Emily say we would be getting full stage in April? That would mean it would be a struggle giving each stage its very own announcement before the end of April.

The acts can be described as up and coming / emerging

Don't lose your shit over this. I don't know if it's going to be today. But a few acts believe they can share some details today.

I did a bunch of interviews / pieces for another festival and two acts mentioned Glastonbury. They know their stages and rough times so it can't be far off anyway.

I'm totally losing my shit over this. Is it fair to say we're talking JP/William's Green?

aye but last year we didn't get the full lineup until really late, complete with stage times. this year, what with everything seemingly more organised (i.e. no final headliner bollocks), we're all expecting it earlier, especially as Emily has said it'll be out in April

It still feels a week too early in my opinion.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I'm still expecting this time next week.

For what? The full poster? I thought Emily said we were getting stage by stage announcements in April (like last year), so imagine they could start coming any time. Imagine the full poster will come early next month

I'm expecting the full poster next week with the various stages releasing as and when afterwards. Based on absolutely nothing but a hunch.

But why go on a hunch when EE has said herself stage by stage in April?

If what she said is right then surely that must start soon?

You're working on the theory that the Eavii tell the truth.

as far as i'm aware Emily has always told the truth, if she doesn't want to answer something she'll say something open to interpretation or just avoid it

I take it that if she says we're getting a poster with Stage breakdowns on it in April then that is 100% happening

You should always take what Michael says with a pinch of salt, but Emily doesn't do deliberate porkies in my experience.

If she's said something that turns out to not be fully accurate it's likely to be for other reasons than her deliberately trying to mislead.

"Three brilliant British bands headlining". Enough said ;)

Can someone please clear this up - did Emily say we're getting a 'stage by stage poster' or 'stage by stage announcements'. Because I assumed the latter.

I don't think she went into that sort of detail - it was more of a passing comment during a radio interview.

It was a while ago since I heard it though, so I could be wrong!

I may have come across too strongly here. Not saying that Emily lies,  but those connected with the festival have a habit of saying one thing then something else happening. It's almost certainly not deliberate and is usually down to behind the scenes delays (getting people to sign, etc.)

I'd just take those sort of promises with a pinch of salt.

but it is 3 brilliant British acts headlining, the bands part falls into the open to interpretation section I mentioned

although describing Coldplay as brilliant does stretch that to it's limits

She said something along the lines of 'we're announcing stage by stage in April to show the depth of the lineup.'

To showcase the depth, I'd say the stage by stage announcements like last year are more likely. Otherwise eyes do get drawn straight to the bigger stages. I'd be pleasantly surprised if the next announcement was a full poster.

I agree with this.

One a week in May leading to a big reveal early June.

I assumed she was talking about the John Peel stage

the number of times I'm aware of that happening with Emily over the 15-ish years she's been involved I could count on one hand.

If Emily's said we'll get stage announcements (in one form or another) in April then I'm sure we will.

    • Do feel a lot more cynical about the Mercury now. Given the awards show is now an arena event, there's clearly a pressure on them to nominate mainstream acts in order to sell tickets for it. And not saying that Jade and Knats don't deserve to be nominated (haven't listened to either), but the fact the event is in Newcastle can't have nothing to do with that... (not to mention Fender winning last year, which frankly was a joke)    Hard not to agree with this: https://www.clashmusic.com/features/this-years-mercury-prize-is-a-pivot-towards-the-mainstream/
