Any changes since 2010

2010 was my first year and I have rubbish memory but the three things I thought of were:

Compost toilets (sounds silly but they make a big difference to the smell).

Dance Village is now called Silver Hayes.

The 'Naughty Corner' (SE corner). In my first year I remember it being there and watching Arcadia but I feel like it was nowhere near as busy or crazy as it is now? I might be wrong but I think it's become a much busier, bigger and exciting venue for late night fun if you like that kind of thing. I'd much rather be chilling out somewhere but it seems to be popular :)

Not sure about big changes, but here are the smaller changes I can think of:

  • Other Stage is all new.
  • Strummerville has moved to somewhere that you could actually find, up between the Stone Circle and The Park.
  • The Glade has added about three new venues.  Spaceport, Spike and another one I can't remember the name of.
  • Pie Minister has gone.
  • JP will be moved slightly up the slope to where hospitality camping is.  This is new in 2016.
  • Arcadia now has it's own area outside of the SE Corner, just outside the bottom entrance to The Park.
  • The Park has drainage at said bottom entrance.
  • There are virtually no more portaloos. Loads more longdrops and compost toilets.
  • There is a new tent between the Pyramid and JP called The Beat Hotel. They have DJs and sell cocktails + San Miguel.
  • The sound quality at the Pyramid has been improved.  They're done some clever stuff with phase cancellation to stop the sound leaking as much offsite.  The result?  They can turn it up!  You'll notice this most during the headliners.
  • The Growler stall has moved very slightly.  It's still on the right hand path of the Other Stage, but now on the left side of that path rather than the right.
  • Getting into the SE corner doesn't involve queuing as such, but it does involve a humongous walk through the circus fields to get there.
  • Worthy View is now HUGE.

Great summary, and looking at that I would say pretty much all of those changes have added a positive effect to the festival. Shows how often the Eavii get it right.

Regarding the South East corner, The Common now has a huge bullring like structure called The Temple which is a great venue, and Block 9 has a stage/installation called Genosys, which for me is probably one of the most impressive structures I've seen at a festival.

Bin Shade was a 'thing' in 2010.

lol it was indeed, we found the slightest scrap of shade from a small picket fence, it was bliss

also, following a bloke carrying a massive table parasol across the other was another he was well pissed people were walking behind him within the shade, such a grumpy bum :D

There are more people with chairs and picnic blankets. There are more people, full stop. There is a lot more to do in an ever growing site. There is a lot less public nudity, (sad face).

One thing that hasn't changed between 2010 and 2016 is Muse headlining.

Thanks, I've never really looked for it just wondered where it was

it had pretty lights last year, the time before it had glasses you could make sounds with, it's a nice little shortcut :)

I still smile whenever I remember a guy trying desperately to get some shade from a bicycle wheel.  And the ladies on stilts with water pistols were the most popular people on site.

Loved 2010. Even the police were cooling people down with water pistols! And free water in the Q to get in. Fab year. Wasn't the beat hotel there then? I remember hiding in the shade at a fence there but can't remember the beat? A fairy on stilts put a peg on my hat that says 'May all of your future wishes come true!' I still have it. Let's hope for a replay of the sunshine ;)
