I agree, it's such a big stage for one person, so it needs to be done right. I'm sure Ed Sheeran has his qualities and a couple of his songs I find catchy but after seeing him on the Pyramid I wouldn't buy his CD or pay to see him at a gig.

I don't think you can look at someone's popularity based on how many people are there for the last song. People arrive early to see the next band and as a result catch the last of the previous band.

I've seen the end of plenty of bands that I'm not interested in

Were you there though? The crowd thinned out a lot after he started - it was very noticeable and we soon joined them.

He has catchy songs that are always on the radio, of course he's going to sell out at concerts. That doesn't mean he is exciting to watch

I would say the same about Adele and stage presence. I'm looking forward to her potentially headlining but I'm very aware she's one person on a massive stage. She definitely has more character than Ed though.

I saw Ed Sheeran on Croissant Neuf in 2011 because a mate I was with was convinced he was the 'next big thing'. She was right I suppose but he barely had enough going on to entertain a tent of what - 200 people?

Ha I was there because I too thought he was going to be the next big thing, and I liked his 'A Team' song. Thought he was entertaining enough, irked his four songs out a bit though. Although his chat was terrible.

It wasn't terrible, or even bad really. It was 'fine'. That's about all the opinion I can muster on Ed Sheeran.
