Hi folks

I'm intentionally avoiding this thread since yesterday, as I don't want anything to take away from tonight's gig!

Just a quick one to say that if anyone wants to come over and say hi tonight if they see me, then please do...

- In grey cargo shorts
- Charcoal t-shirt with a silhouetted head on it
- Beard and thin-rimmed glasses
- Standing next to a teenager slightly taller than his dad

Would be lovely to say hello to anyone on here who's there and feels like it.

Defo planning to be in a decent spot for Holly Herndon as I like her quite a lot!

Have a mega gig, guys.

See you on in the thread tomorrow (or possibly at 2 o'clock tomorrow morning when we get home!)

:)

Ben

Have a great time Ben, look forward to hearing about it.

Shaun.

Frickin' impossible to disassociate my mental image of him with that bloody orang-utan! So I have no chance!

Come on russy, come and say hello. we won't tell anyone you socialised with...us!

:)

Ben

Shorts! There's a chilly wind in camden. You are a tougher man than me.

Where are you drinking before? (same goes to anyone else)

Why would they bill Radiohead as 'special guests' thus missing out on all the publicity and hype about having them booked when contractually there's no reason to whatsoever?

Kendrick Lamar makes much more sense if this is what will be on the poster.

Maybe Radiohead have asked for it.

How could you take £3k off someone face to face like that. Amazing.

I dont condone crime, but it would amuse me if he got that cash taken off him by one of the more unsavoury camden residents on his way home.

Again though - why would they have? Doesn't make any sense to me. When it's worded in that way it generally always means contractual issues right?

I'd dearly love it to be Radiohead but my expectation will go down rather than up if it's 'special guests' listed on the poster.

The same Radiohead who have played a secret set before and who marketed their new album by first deleting their entire online presence?

I can imagine they'd be quite happy avoiding Daily Mail journalists asking them what it 'feels like to support Adele' for the next four weeks.

They don't need the publicity of an announcement, neither do Glastonbury for that matter. They've sold out this year, it's a far bigger story for them to have another 'secret set' on the Pyramid this year.

Hmm, just seems a bit like straw clutching. Everything logically suggests Lamar or someone else. Never wanted to be wrong so much in my life mind. Ha

Anyone know anywhere good (and preferably cheap) to have a drink in Camden?

Brewdog, Camden Eye, Lock, lots of good places. Get off at Camden Town and walk up towards Chalk Farm, you'll be spoilt for choice. No Sam Smiths that close unfortunately

I think you probably are :P

The palpable sigh of disappointment when a Kendrick banner falls down over the Pyramid followed by a mass exodus.

I also don't get why they wouldn't have booked them to headline this year over Muse. There's rumours of a big tour next year so they could potentially be pencilled in for that I guess.

everything logically suggests something more than 'just another band' in that slot to me - something special, different to normal years.

An act that's on the bill and claimed as an exclusive at another fest doesn't really fit, as far as I'm feeling it. That sort of thing has happened before without it also having what feels like a total info-lock-down around it this year.

That might just be the result of the tighter secrecy they've impressed onto acts this year, but I don't think so.

Cheers Tuna! I'm in desperate need of a recovery pint, after my crippling hangover today.

This is just speculation of course, but it looks to me like they haven't headlined in so long simply because they haven't wanted to.

We know they have a good relationship with the festival and have been in and around it enough to know how it all works. If/when they want to headline, I'd imagine they'll know what they have to do, and when they have to do it.

Now as for why the wouldn't want to headline, who knows? It's Radiohead, they tend to do things a bit differently. Maybe they find the "secret" sets generate better publicity and are better for their image, or maybe they get to enjoy the festival more when they're not the headline act. Or maybe they all just really want to see Art Garfunkel, who knows.

Because the publicity and hype of revealing them actually playing on the spot is much greater than revealing them on the second poster? Just a thought. The Libertines thing last year (granted it was out of necessity) certainly went down as a festival highlight, not to mention fantastic media fodder, and therefore could be a new tradition that the Festival are looking to instill.

I'm not sure what logic suggests Kendrick.

He's an exclusive to BST, and given their reputation hit last year, they'll be more desperate to preserve that than, say, Reading and Leeds or Download.

Kendrick seemed more likely with a Wednesday 1st June announcement. A first of the month date suggests that date is being used for contractual reasons - such as protecting someone claimed as an exclusive elsewhere.

Now the announcement appears to be happening on Tuesday it doesn't seem anywhere near as likely.

    • Jai Paul was massively underwhelming, but Barry was exxxxxxcelent
    • On a serious note,  would anyone be up for an efestivals meet up tomorrow?  Me and @allribena will be ootnaboot
    • My minor grumbles from today: I didn’t realise the bands would go on until after midnight. I missed the headliners as it was past my bedtime.    I went to all of the bars and not one of them sold Blue WKD. Nor did they do White Russians.    Why aren’t there seats around the other stages like at cupra?   Too many people in hats.    Nowhere to take your shoes off.   Water taps only did still water- no sparkling.    I got a stone in my shoe.    Not enough men with beards- have they gone out of fashion?   People didn’t extinguish their marijuana cigarettes when I requested them to.    Not enough people complimented my witty t shirt.   Nowhere sold Staffordshire oatcakes or Derbyshire pikelets.    Too many toilets.    My nunchucks were confiscated upon entry
    • Ngl I'm so tired. Barry was great though
