Well someone has referenced the racist comments and it made me wonder why the majority of crashers are black?!?

In no way racist or feck all, just a observation.

Wireless seems to be catering towards the black audience more and more these days. not that white people don't listen to rap/RnB, but looking through the lineup there is definitely an influx of black artists compared to a few years ago, so that probably has something to do with it - not that it's any excuse at all, or a real reason

I didn't say it was racist, but how do you expect anybody to answer a question like that?

Why not, why should a question about black people be hard too answer?

If they were all disabled, it would be answered.

Is it because of the music genre? The area it's in or what?

Cheers. Was just surprised really that's all.

Cheers

In fact, black and black-mixed race are the majority ethnicity in Finsbury Park. Plus some of the people in the footage were asians. Also bear in mind poverty levels among this ethnic group are the highest of all (not saying that all poor people are criminals of course) which is also a factor I suppose.

Maybe more black people go to Wireless.  Maybe black people are bad, What kind of answer do you expect?

Hopefully the former

It's an urban festival with an urban edge to the music, and for reasons that genuinely are confusing our coloured brethren seem to hate camping so are much more likely to frequent an urban festival - add to that the poverty issues mentioned and a dash of gang culture and you've a good recipe for groups to be turning up and trying - the failure was really on the parts of security and the police not deflecting them before they turned into a mob roaming the boundary

Mobs don't act like normal people. Anonymity lets people get away with all sorts and that that point there's zero point considering race (not that I imagine anyone was)

The whole 'why are festivals mostly white' question is very interesting though. Had lots of chats about it with both completely confused black guys who thought their mates were mad and too precious, and one utterly hilarious woman in '14 who was singing and dancing with joy on monday at getting off that fucking farm and that fucking mud and out of that fucking tent lol - she made my monday, never seen someone so happy to leave

This sort of thing went on during 90s free festival scene as well .Torpedo town I remember one year had a load of shit going on .Got split into two sites and a incinerator got burned down by some Folks .We always got the proper run around when we visited or tried to site up in Hampshire .Gave up in the end and went over to Ireland for a quiet life .

Someone above said this was the Nicki Minaj day at the 'festival'.

Headliners:
DAVID GUETTA
NICKI MINAJ
JESSIE J

They were trying to break in for that ? Even if you paid me £100 with a free ticket, I think I'd decline. I'd rather sit in my flat and watch shit TV away from that sort of scum.

I live just around the corner from Finsbury Park. You see some violent lowlife scum around sometimes, but nothing like the mob in the video. It's far worse down in Tower Hamlets tbh.

    • Interesting to read. It's mostly why we stopped going a few years back even though it's the nearest big festival to home. The post-exams timing and location makes it a rites of passage first festival for people in a big area. Understandably that leads to a bit of giddiness. Think lineup would need to be a lot more my cup of tea to be enticed back. Friends who are there are having a good time tho and no rain is a good thing for up there.
    • I honestly didn't know it had, I still thought it was where the view overlooked the lake and view.   I think my decision not to attend this year at least was justified. Biffy was the big draw but after Finsbury I knew they wouldn't play what I want to hear again and well work also got in the way. Believed interesting to hear if Libertines were any good as they were also a pull but Sunday did nothing for me really with all my acts on Friday and Saturday.
