League cup draw for the premier league teams tonight. I know it's not fashionable but I always look forward to cup games (probably because we have a very slight chance of winning it unlike the league). An old romantic (at 28) having been bought up on the importance of cups.

Does anyone agree or do you all think it's shit and that the champions league is the only important tournament??

If I watch a champions league game it's usually one that involves 2 non british sides.

A potential cup upset as a neutral is far more exciting than watching a game between two top flight european sides who are on the TV week in week out anyway.

Im not a huge fan of the league cup, to me it just comes across as the poo relative of the FA cup. I think the FA cup has lost some of its appeal in recent years and they would be better off getting one right, than dping a mediocre job with 2. If they are going to keep the league cup I feel they need to do something to distinguish it more from the FA cup, maybe look at the format or the draw.

I quite enjoyed the game but I may have just been enjoying the fact we had almost 30 attempts against a crap Leeds side. My dad watched it on tv and said it was rubbish so I probably am being biased. We were really bad at putting our chances away.

As said, the pens were funny. Although our pen in normal time was shite and should have been saved. It will forever baffle me how footballers can't place a ball into a corner from 12 yards. Mesut Özil can ping a ball 50 yards and land it on the exact spot he wants it, yet he comes up to take a pen against Munich and can only veer half way from the centre of the goal to the corner? Well done mate. Repeat this previous point with almost any professional footballer and it'll ring true.

Premiership football on a Friday?? I think I completely missed that one as well!

Blame the EDL.

Police advised to move it from Saturday, they wanted to televise it and couldn't be Sunday/Monday due to United in champions league.

Ideal for me being from the Midlands , in the villa end tonight though.

Yes, they are going to have a little racist walk around Walsall tomorrow afternoon and some locals are planning to have a little non-racist walk of their own at the same time.

The police were expecting to be a little too busy to also have to police a bunch of football fans 10 miles away at the same time.

Funny how European action stops them moving man u in a certain direction but didn't stop Newcastle having a game 39 hours after an away europa tie.

Keep your head down, Man U fans always seem to buy up tickets, if any stewards think you're Man U even if you're behaving you'll be out

They also don't let you in if you don't sound from around here, so keep shut on ur way in [unless u do sound like you're from around here]

Im at work sadly so miss tonights game, its a complete sell out so should be great atmosphere.

What a signing we made today as well, absolutely over the moon with getting Traore in.

Was in the Doug Ellis stand near the Holte end in 07 when Steven Gerrard scored that free kick to win the game 2-1 in the last few minutes for Liverpool.................Had to leave ASAP as some w*nker Villa fans were looking about for LFC fans to fight with. Real knackers they were. Got a bit nervous to be honest. One nasty fucker was going mental all over the stand. He even started hurling abuse at a kid (must have been about 7) who had an LFC top on and his Dad just picked him up and went down the stairs to get out of there as quick as.

    • I agree but anyone under Rodrigo would be a sub in reality, that day would sell out in under an hour whoever is subbing, in which case Wolf Alice would make a lot of sense   The more unrealistic part of the scenario at this point is Rodrigo headlining
    • All you can say is...     If he couldn't convince nations that really would've benefitted from the short-term hit of an up-front £50mil payment by this time next year, what hope did he have?   Guess we'll now just have to monitor and see if this could derail Infantino's plans to be re-elected FIFA President next year.
    • Spider-Man: Brand New Day   Highlight was a bloke reacting to the post-credit scene by going "Holy f**k it's Tobey Maguire!" despite the scene having no reference to him at all. Which made my close-to-full screening of the film laugh a lot.   Film was pretty good. It was interesting as much as an exploration of the ramifications of the end of No Way Home and being about isolationism and male loneliness, which I thought it actually did quite well. Though I do ponder if I liked it as much as the other 3 Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Sadie Sink was good tbf, while I also liked Jon Bernthal as Punisher, enough that I might go watch his Disney+ shows.   Seem to have had a Marvel kick recently having also watched Thunderbolts and Shang-Chi, both of which I thought were pretty good.
    • Wolf Alice won't get headliner for Reading either, they will sub if they play, that is where their level has stopped I feel. Both TFG and Skyvip for the big shows this year was just a stretch too far. Every headliner this year is bigger than them too I'd say.   Agree with Capaldi I don't think Yungblud will be at Reading. I would guess Bludfest 3 or Download.
