What Went Down album preview, sounds really promising imo.

Give it all, London Thunder and Lonely Hunter sound class. On top of the 3 we have already heard too. Cant wait for this.

So headlining a near 80k capacity festival doesn't mean anything then? Cool

The Libertines are headlining a near 80K, they shouldn't be as they just aren't quite there but they are. Foals on the other hand haven't and Bestival isn't even close to 80K, R&L is a MUCH bigger festival.

They headlined Parklife and Latitude festival too.

Just saying.

I'm not sure how it justifies anything? Parklife is not even in the same league and Latitude doesn't touch anything to come into consideration.

If Leeds genuinely has only sold around 30k, then I wonder what the bands will think playing to such small crowds compared to other years, or even Reading the previous night? Imagine Metallica walking out to a crowd of 20k because 10k are watching Rebel Sound...

As long as they're still getting paid the same I doubt Metallica give a shit how many people they play to.

My point is they headlined alongside Snoop dog at Parklife and Outkast at Latitude. Whether you like them or not they are huge acts. Foals will be ready to headline Reading next year and I think it will happen.

You've just compared them in size to 2 acts who aren't big enough to headline r&l?

Edit- I think foals could headline as Melvin has been trying to push them for years, just saying it's a bad example used

I'm going to just leave this with lightning. I think you tied yourself up there yourself without any help.

Still though, Latitude and Bestival headliners are usually either acts that have been around, amassed large followings and a lot of respect in their genres or growing acts that are seen as on their way to headlining major festivals, not just any old middle card act so to say neither fest bears any relevance on future major festival headliners is just super-stupid.

They might and they might not. Coheadlining is circumstancial bc if a previous coheadliner said 'no thanks' would the festival have scrabbled around for any other act willing to coheadline or just gone along with three headliners? Fuck a coheadliner it's too early in the year for this shit.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
