Apologies if there is already a thread here on this.

But am after some peoples thoughts on this !!

Only my 2nd visit this year and last year didnt arrive until the Friday morning so had to fit the tent where I could, this year, due to my very quick realisation last year that it is indeed the greatest festival on the planet, i am intending on being parked up in the early hours of the Wednesday morning.

I found Bushy pretty rubbish last year... Set up there due to lazy mates arriving first and not wanting to push on to somewhere better, It seems like there's a cut through on the railway line but there's not!

Edit: best I have yet to experience as it was my first year last year :(

People's opinions will vary wildly on this, because it depends what you're looking for in a camping spot. Personally we go Oxlyers nowadays. It's not the most scenic spot but it's as central as you can get.

Only since looking at the airiel map on here have I really got my head round the layout of the camping areas in relation to the stages/areas !!

Worst of all is worthy view and all the other offsite bollocks, of course.

I can second that. Camped at worthy view for the first time last year and it's so far from anywhere it just doesn't feel like you're camping at glastonbury. May as well have just stayed in the travelodge up the road. There's also zero atmosphere in the tent area; I like to go back to the tent once or twice a day to stock up and sit for 30 mins or so with a beer and chat to neighbours, but there's nobody about during the day! Also that massive hill between the camp and the festival means that you limit your trips back there at all when you're down. Rant over.

I love big grown purely because it's relatively quite at night, proximity to gate B & the biggest of all reasons the marvellous real toilets

Worst for me was Dairy in 2010, just rammed & noisy

I thought Dairy was good last year. The only problem was the mess afterwards! Never seen that much rubbish and abandoned tents and other camping equipment on a Monday

That and the roars from Arcadia in the middle of the night but you'll get that pretty much everywhere

I camped next to the Pennards long drops for my first 3 years and it really wasn't that bad. Odd unpleasant whiff but it wasn't that noticeable. We didn't hang around at the tent much anyway. Also it was really convenient for a two-birds-with-one-stone toilet and beer restock pitstop for the whole group and always very easy to find the tents when pissed.

The one rule we do always go by is to camp very near, but not right next to, a path. Really can't be fucked losing our tent, which happened frequently the only time we didn't do this.

I went for the first time last year and we camped in Woodsies, just around the corner from the secure lockup. Was a decent spot as it was quieter and we could drop phones etc off, but it's a trek to the dance areas. I didn't mind that so much though as I'm not fussed about the club areas really.

Last year was my first Glastonbury, and once I left my tent in the morning, I didn't return until the early hours where I could collapse in my tent and sleep. So all I required was quietness. Are people suggesting on here that its worth spending time at your tent rather than being out and about, cos that sounds like an odd decision to me.

a lot of time used to be spent socialising around campfires at peoples tents. It's sad those days are gone, to be replaced by highly organised fun.

The two years I have been we have camped in Oxylers which suits us perfectly as allows as an easy chance to stock up more booze and close to our music taste of john peel, other stage and park. Never really noticed it being particularly noisy, will probably be there this year aswell

Weekends in Exmoor are for sitting around in your tent !!!

sweet jesus why would anyone even consider spending anytime apart from kipping and morning tea in the tent ?!

Our friends went down on the Wednesday and pitched our tent sometime in the morning, we arrived the next day so I'm not sure when exactly they got there. This year we're probably arriving around midday on Weds so hopefully we can grab a good spot again. Starting to worry that the whole place will be full when we get there based off the times people on here have said they're arriving! Especially as it's really close to the coaches.

Sat round the fire with a couple of cans and a joint or 2 to wind down with is the perfect end to any Glastonbury night.

On another point is there anyway of parking closer to one particular gate than another ?

The one down point of my experience last year was the walk down a "monster" of a hill on the way in and the climb back up it on the Monday damn near killed me !!

Was parked near the Campervan field last year, can the hill be avoided ?! :)
