I knew a lot of car parking fields were on other sites but I had no idea some venues weren't on Worthy Farm. Have the Eavis's bought out those other fields or are they just rented for a few weeks?

As far as I know, they rent them from the other landowners. There's a theory that in the past, they talked about holding the festival elsewhere as a veiled threat to the other farms because they were asking for too much money.

I believe most of the fields that were considered "at risk" a few years ago were outside the fence - the problems were in large part related to the landowners feeling that they could make more money from running a private campsite / glamping, with less risk/damage to their fields, than they could from car parks / campervan fields / staff camping.

In terms of stuff inside the fence, I believe it tends to be on longer term arrangements, with the bulk of it being held by one family with long term ties to the Eavii. I don't *think* that land was under threat.

Likely that the trade off to other farm owners includes a number  of hospitality tickets that they can include in expensive glamping packages in return for being able to rent out their other fields for car parking etc. Certainly more of them now than in the past.

Interesting. What I would give to be able to sit down with Emily and get the truth on the multiple stories and theories we discuss on here.

Yeah, I remember that from a couple of years ago. Bet the other farms make a killing out of Glastonbury though. They'd be mad to mess that up by being greedy.

Farmers are grumpy bastards though 🤣 (sometimes)

Wasn’t it talks with the Marquess ofBath about using Longleat as a possible venue?

Again, it's another story, probably true but 🤷. It was said they came to Glastonbury in 2016, saw what it did to the land and backed out.

Yeah, and then they announced the Variety Bazaar, which I think was another ploy to shake up the landowners so they play ball.

That rings a bell. I also seem to remember an article (Guardian?) where ME said there was a site in the Midlands that they were thinking of moving the festival to. Definitely posturing though.

Hope Michael was able to see them released onto the field. He said in a documentary it’s one of the highlights of his year seeing them running back on it.

    • If you had to come through the fence after coming down the hill if you weren’t already down the hill then you were probably in general. From there the blocks of toilets, showers and water points aren't far at all and to your right is aldi. I know of the lake but apparently it fills up super quick and is noisy and loads of bugs....I got bitten as it was lol. But I joined a solo camp WhatsApp group so followed them.

    • They are going to have Blink 182 for sure, early June upto around Werchter weekend I'd say for them. Two of Sweden Rock,  Greenfield and RFP are going to miss out.
    • I've come across a few this weekend saying Deftones aren't big enough for Download.   I would recommend b&b hotel hbf the night before....cheap, comfortable and very decent. Within 10 minutes from the station and a tram stop outside to jump on...all travel is free during the festival time as well with a kombi. Lidl is very good and cheap I can't lie....€6 for a chair with carey handle, €20 with a bag too...you can work that out yourself.   If you camp, get up at 5am and go to the queue....literally don't question it as now I know.     The travel wise part is easy when you get the hang of it and I've never had an easier exit from a festival today tbh. We were camped in the turn left section but past the registration and to get water you have to come right out.   Opening up an exit through he camp at least by Friday morning when everyobe is there would be much better but you csnt walk through general if you're green and sonon.   I think the issue for me probably too is I have never taken like a mutliple litre water too, I've always done a 6 pack water from like poundland lol but you definitely need it. I had one shower that was cold lol   Talking of getting into the front, Volbeat was the only easy one, for Maiden and especially Linkin Park if you weren't in the queue for it by at least the last quarter ot Architects you had no hope....it was shocking. I do like orbit to sit down. I had to decide to sack off Within Temptation too or no chance.   Second stage biggest gripe is the faff of walking all the way round when VIP or whatever it is literally get access to each bit. I did read tbh before going people though RIP/Ring was turning too much the wrong way.   Also as a side note, caught some of Limp Bizkit last night too and they are not headliner but any distance at all. Yes they pull a crowd...they would do with LP finished but on the grand scale its a super weak booking. Stop, start for video recordings all the way through a headline set?, 1hr 15 minutes and you can't play for that time. I'm so glad they were not chosen to headline main.   On another thing, if RIP played it right they'll get GC and Avril to sub/second stage headline on the Blink day.   Toilets and cleanliness is a big plus I will say that.
