Proposing at Glastonbury

definitely taking the ring i'm afraid. know it might potentially be a daft move but i'm a reckless type of guy and it'll make the moment better. but yeah, getting it out of the way relatively early rather than sunday night. that way if the ring goes missing it's her fault rather than mine.

lot's of good advice and ideas. nice bunch of people. I will post in here when and where i'm going to do it so people can come and have a look if they want.

I proposed to our lass during one of our fav bands, but went with the intention of getting a temporary ring from the stalls. Couldn't find owt until I stumbled across the green fields and discovered a jewellery work shop. I booked to go in the morning and hand crafted a strip of silver into a ring with G 2013 engraved inside it.

thats class mate, top notch.

I was gonna do something similar this year for my lady. Not proposing but I wanted to hand make her something. We shall see!

Hi KC....

Just an idea for you to ponder. And I'm not even sure if they will be at Glasto this year but, to celebrate my wife and I's first anniversary at Glasto 2013, we went to this place for a proper nice sit-down three course meal with wine etc.

(Proper cutlery, plates and glasses etc....)

I also arranged before hand a special surprise cake that they made for us especially. Might be worth a look....

As for the ring, well at the same year - I had a surprise eternity ring for my wife for the same day. I stored it in the Lock-ups safely until needed with no qualms whatsoever. Easy.

Best of luck!!

At Bestival 2013 a guy had big letters made up saying '(Name of fiance) will you marry me? Then had invidual people hold them up in the crowd. Great way of proposing.

I now have a vision of someone else in the crowd with the same name getting really excited turning to her partner and Saying YES of course, he either goes along with it or he thinks shit, I was going to dump her after the festival

I was so so close to doing it, and didnt, and it remains one of my biggest regrets :(

Basically, her parents thought i was gonna do it at Glasto and I thought about it but decided against it. During The Stones You cant always get what you want (ironic), its a beautiful moment, one that only comes along every so often, surrounded by friends and family and I was about to do it but bottled it. We arent together now so maybe it was a blessing but good luck!

I proposed In the kids field as we had our baby boy with us. My regret was that I waited till the Sunday afternoon to do it. By that time we were all knackered and she was ready to come home. Would have been better doing it at the start of the festival so we had the whole Weekend to enjoy it.

I proposed to my fiance at Glastonbury this year.

We met at the festival in 2010 and have been back every year since (except 2012 obviously) and it's really special for both of us because of how we met. Anyway, for valentine's day this year I booked us a B&B in Pilton (run by one of the Eavis family - complete coincidence) and we walked over to the farm. I asked in the office if it was OK to walk around the site and they said it was fine. Anyway, I took us to the exact spot we met (easy to find as it was by a little crossroads) and got down on one knee. Muddy as hell but worth it coz she said yes!

Good luck KC - hope it goes well for ya!

  • 3 weeks later...

will you marry me had been spelled out by the Glastonbury sign

Yeah that was me, Sacred space "Will you be my one life stand" (Hot chip fans!)

Pretty naff but it worked,

Got married in 2013,

This year on the Thursday will be a decade since we met, Glastonbury is heavily intertwined in our history together.

Would I do it all over again?

Yeah maybe without the naffness!

Hey OP,

If you're really going to do this, lemme know. I'm an in-house Glasto photographer, and I can virtually guarantee getting a shot of the proposal up on the Glasto website (but I gotta know where and when you plan to do the deed, of course :-)
