Headliners 2016

Ooh I don't think anybody's predicted mine yet.

Rihanna, AC/DC, Coldplay.

Rihanna isn't a bad shout tbh. Tho if all three of those came off together then even 2014's trio would look positively thrilling by comparison. Edited by Zac Quinn

For bonus points I'll predict Kendrick Lamar, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and Ellie Goulding to sub and The National, Disclosure and The Prodigy to headline the Other Stage.

I was thinking similar for subs and Other stage actually. Ellie Goulding and Nick Cave seem decent shouts, not sure about the 3rd though. I'd go for Sigur Ros and Disclosure as two of the Other stage headliners. The XX could done one of those slots if they're around too.

I know this board absolutely loves them but are nick cave and the bad seeds really big enough to sub anymore? The crowd in 2013 was tiny... And that's not me slating cave as he was great. Thought an other headliner slot would suit better now!

Hang on... Didn't people give 2014's trio shit for not having a perceivably 'massive' headliner and not being very diverse? Those three would be huge and very diverse!

Yeah forgot about The XX, you're right about that.

I could just as easily see Sigur Ros (and Bon Iver if they start up again) headline Other as The National but I just chose The National for whatever reason. One of them will though, they have to!

Festival is always definitely the last weekend in June, isn't it? I've just booked to see Der Ring Das Neibelung at the Lowry next year, but I'm now crapping myself that the festival will move to a week earlier and they'll clash.

They're no smaller now than in 2013 or 2009, are they?

Not my point, my point was they may have even been too small in 2013. The crowd was the smallest i've ever seen for a pyramid act... but for a sub that crowd was bordeline shocking.

I know this opinion will get slated on these boards, but surely Nick would be better headlining the other stage?

Okay, they weren't any bigger in 2009, were they, when they presumably got a similar response from the crowd, and were then re-booked in the same slot?

It isn't all about crowd size, hence why you get things like NIN subbing at R&L and getting a much smaller crowd than the acts on before them.

They probably would be better on the Other Stage, but that's nowt to do with size. Also don't get why that would be slated.

It is a factor though, you can't deny it. Otherwise bands sized 'bigger to smaller' on stages wouldn't exist at all.

NIN got a much bigger crowd at R&L (judging from videos) than Nick Cave did at glasto.

All i'm saying is that sometimes you have to acknowledge bands get smaller, and I personally think Nick Cave would be a poor choice of a sub in the future, regardless if he has cult following.

Arses! My thinly veiled "look how cultured I am, peasants!" posts has failed.

No not really. You can't actually believe that the crowd sizes go up with every act on every stage. Nick Cave was up against Smashing Pumpkins (and to a lesser extent Cat Power and Evan Dando) so had a diminished crowd, and you think he should be in a lower slot. Primal Scream had a huge crowd because of the act after them, possibly bigger than the crowd for Mumfords, so should they move up?
