I've never understood ME or others saying that they book acts on Sunday to appeal to the locals.I currently live 12 miles from Pilton and I've never seen any evidence of the musical taste being any different to elsewhere in the UK.(Wurzels to headline!!!!!!)

Yeah but from other places in the UK the people going to Glastonbury are big music fans who are likely to be open minded. The locals coming probably won't all be big music fans who'd pay to go to a festival, so a greater proportion of them probably just want something enjoyable and inoffensive (instead they get Kasabian).

To be fair Daltrey has raised a huge amount for charity over the years....

There is a story going about off their facebook of a fan who's specifically making the trip over from Brazil, who will now miss the show, and it just doesn't bode well with me.

A small point, but could someone who's a member please go on there and let them know that Buenos Aires is actually in Argentina. Thanks x

Well, well well then. So they've finally ran out of vintage/heritage/legendary headliners and are now on the 2nd round. They only played 6 festivals ago. Lazy, lazy. And I'm a big Who fan

Marks a huge change for the festival I reckon. In terms of headliners anyway.

I admit it's lazy, but for someone who didn't go in 2007 this is excellent!

Firstly let me state I’m a huge Who fan but I will try to be level headed with my comments

I’m ecstatic that it’s The Who playing, for anyone to suggest they are not headline material in nonsense, they are without doubt one of the most influential bands ever and, in my opinion form the holy trinity of classic rock that is the Stones, Led Zeppelin and The Who.

On the other hand what they are doing to their Paris fans is appalling, two years ago I went to see The Who in Amsterdam on the Thursday after Glastonbury, I was actually considering going to Paris this year. We booked flights and pre paid for hotels in order to make the trip as cheap as possible , transferring would have been very expensive. Unfortunately the Who have previous when it comes to this , they cancelled a Dublin show in order to play the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix a couple of years ago

Thirdly, thankfully there have been limited ‘where’s the book/’ comments. The book is out, read it then make your opinions.

Lastly, The Who are tremendous live, Daltreys voice is actually better than it was a 6 or seven years ago, unlike Jaggers which I thought was awful a couple of years ago. Their current show is superb

This is a current set list and one we should expect

1.I Can't Explain

2.The Seeker

3.Who Are You

4.The Kids Are Alright

5.Squeeze Box

6.I Can See for Miles

Pretty much same opinion here. I've had the pleasure of seeing 50% of the band before and it was very good. On the Pyramid it'll be proper ace mate. It's a bit amusing how previously it was predominantly acceptable for Blur to headline again so soon but not okay for The Who. Personally, I'm well chuffed it's them instead of Blur. Will be one big big shame though if the pretty probable Chemical Brothers Other Stage clash comes about. Bloody love Chems.

Loving the lineup this year.

Erection fodder

Acdc and Fleetwood Mac are in the country.

Prince is tour ready and free.

Do we think Glastonbury should just offer more to get the big bands rather than rely on the generosity of bands who choose to play thus limiting the pool of headliners.

Or do we accept that they put on the best overall lineup and that this would be compromised if they blew $5mil on a legend each year?

Im perplexed with this. I really am. The festival pursuing the Who is really an odd one for me. I feel very uncomfortable about it. They really could not get anything different? An aged rock band that recently played is what this wait has been for? Even if it was someone I thought personally was shit but big enough and had not done it before Id respect that more (bit like Kanye). I cant help but think the festival is taking an image hit on this somewhat for various reasons. The optics of this are all wrong. It just aint sitting well

But wrt cancelling their gigs should we really be questioning the morals of a band who include a member who thinks he has a legit reason for buying and looking at kiddy porn?? Fucking over their own fans must be water off a ducks back morally.

This I think. I'd rather shittier headliners and a stronger line up elsewhere, which is Glastos unique selling point, in terms of music anyway.

Looks like Prince has fucked them over again this year.

Loving the setlist, hope its the same for Glasto. Seen them twice, but have never seen them play a quick one whiles he's away before, which is 1 of my favourite songs. Though it does seem less whimsical after reading Pete's autobiography and discovering Ivan the old engine driver was based on someone that abused him as a child.

Think there are 21 cracking songs listed there, and 1 I'll have to look up as I don't remember eminince front. Only songs I'd like to see added are tattoo, I'm a boy & whisky man, all of which make me laugh, though I'm a boy also takes a sadder light having read Pete's autobiography.

I agree with this. It's strange. It also paves the way for repeat bookings for the likes of paul mccartney, u2, bruce springsteen etc.

I thought all those kinds of acts would be "once in a lifetime" type gigs.

The irony is the one old act we want to return is the only act who very definitely will not play again! (bowie.)
