Last year I made up mojito syrup whIch I then mixed with dark rum and fresh cold water from the taps, not quite a mojito but it worked as a cold drink.

Recipe if you interested

Heat 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water on a low heat (use a heavy based pan if you have one) until the mixture has combined and gone clear

Add the grated zest of 4 limes and keep in the heat for 15-30 minutes (but make sure it doesn't get to simmering heat)

Add a big bunch of mint (scrunch it up to bruise it) and keep on the heat for another 5 mins

Turn off the heat add the juice fro the limes and allow to cool before sieving into a bottle.

From a totally different thread but thought it would go well here. Just made a batch and can confirm this is the best thing I have found on this forum, and probably any other forum, ever.

Started drinking my Glastonbury cider on Saturday....oops

Yep been there my friend. Bought 18 cans of magners for a tenner when on offer start of May, next day, bank holiday - GONE! useless. Its why I now bring all my booze to work and lock it away.

You're playing a dangerous game there!

Started infusing some watermellon and mint with a 70cl bottle of vodka last night and will decant it next Tuesday night, so thats a good 8 days of iunfusing. Cant wait to taste the end product although i will be severly downbeat if it just ends up tasting like horrid... although it will still get drunk regardless! Going to buy another 70cl bottle of Vodka today but not sure what to go for, sweets or fruit?

I've just bunged a packet of sherbet lemons into a bottle of voddy in the dishwasher

Dishwasher works a treat, they've nearly all melted now.

Edit - Just remember not to put a dishwasher tab in.

Sainsburies are doing a deal at the minute where first time online orders can get 15 pound off of a 60 pound spend. I managed to get 120 cans of wrongbow for £50, splitting it with a friend. I know wrongbow isnt the nicest of drinks but for the price I cant complain, £25 for 60 cans! They also had cases of Fosters for the same price but for me, warm cider > warm beer.

I've seen a few of you guys rate Aldi spirits, there's loads of good reviews of the taste online but I can't see anywhere rating the hangover

can anyone give their gin or rum a hangover rating out of 10 for me?

as far as I'm concerned it could taste like rainbow nectar but if you can feel the hangover in your teeth I'm not interested

Vodka

Smirnoff 1ltr - Morrisons: £15 (https://groceries.morrisons.com/webshop/product/Smirnoff-Premium-Vodka/212289011 - deal runs out 21st June, limited to two bottles... booo!!!)

They also have Russian Standard on at £17 per 1litre bottle.

Sainsbury's have got their own label up for £15 a litre bottle

Whiskey/Whiksy

The Co-Op is selling 10yo Glemorangie for £22.50 (down from an expensive £37.99), this is currently £25 in Tesco.

Tequila.

Waitrose is selling El Jimador Reposado for £17 which is not a bad price.
Sainsbury's have got the El Jimador Plata/Silver up for £16 which is not a bad price either.

I see Patron are trying to sell their massively over-priced Silver/Plata for £20-£25 per 35cl in Tesco and Sainsburys, don't bother, it's a massively over-rated tequila, spend £30 and get a bottle of Gran Centenario Plata instead, makes superb magaritas and much nicer on the palate.

Rum

Sainsbury's have got Havana Club 7 year old at £20

Pear drops, the little red and yellow ones, you will love it. Mine smells lush and is a lovely peachy colour, no gunk at the end to seperate either. I have mine with lemonade, absolute heaven. ;)

The gin is pretty good. Hangover rating a 5/10, it's not cheap, horrible stuff by any means.

I'm travelling by National Express  and normally prefer to  drink beer so does anyone have a realistic way of getting beer to the to festival without taking up too much of my luggage allowance?  thanks

for £9.99 I think I can handle a 5/10, although I've just seen Brugal rum is on offer in Tesco so I might treat myself, at £17.50 for 70cl for a rum of that quality is a good deal

    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
    • Out of interest keep seeing messages saying last 12 hours etc… to buy you full weekend tickets.  Whats that about? Do they take them off sale early?
    • I reckon it'll be deftones and Biffy clyro
    • If Friko are replacing The Beths that's a very rare example of a band being replaced by another band who I'm equally eager to see. Great news.
