I'm not sure it's possible to keep the holding page open, it usually refreshes after 20 seconds and then drop you back on the main page.

Yeah, I'm trying for someone else and I suspect I'm trying harder than they are - but they have signed up to checkpage - they're just not on here all day too.  They'll be a very welcome addition to our small group, so worth the effort.  I might be thinking differently if I needed one too though!
