I live in the north, I don't want wall to wall sunshine!

However, no wind would be my main request. It always fks up the sound.

Rain - I can deal with that.

Storms - New tent required after this year!

Is it that unusual for a band to do a 2 year tour on a new album run? I'd say it's to be expected - and if they do plan on taking a break after this touring cycle for a bit it's hardly a surprise they have squeezed in more UK shows to be honest.

Agreed dude. Plus we all know Corey loves to do as many gigs as possible.

No but it was said a couple of times that they were going on a long break, so I guess most people assumed they'd be finishing up their remaining tour dates and moving on. Even to those that expected more shows, they were probably expecting more festival shows instead of another arena tour - I think people were fairly surprised they did one last year never mind another one. Guess this means they could still do festival shows in August and announce shortly after the tour finishes, or they could just be wrapping it up fairly quickly.

Unless this is going to be it for slipknot full stop and they want one last go around.

Either way ill be at the Leeds show. Hometown slipknot show on my birthday, doesn't get much better than that :)

If it was a farewell tour, then they would publicise it as that, I'd have though.

Yeah I worded it badly. I meant they'd be going on an indefinite hiatus like they've done a couple of times before, I meant that they wouldn't be playing any festivals later in the year Edited by lightning1000

hopefully they don't go away for too long this time- this talk of their next album being a high concept double album has perked my interest. sounds like the type of album that could be incredible or a total disaster (as is the case with most double albums)

can't see them being a Reading/Leeds headliner myself, but stranger things have happened. think they'd have to mix the setlist up a bit or something as everybody's had multiple chances to see them over the past year. they never seem to get the opportunity to headline any other festivals as Download and Sonisphere snatch em up the moment they announce a tour/album - would be good if they did Reading/Leeds come the next album

I'm a little surpised they are doing more tour dates. They have done an extensive arena tour not that far away from an unsold headline show at Download and then to do more arena dates. R&L would have been overkill, this would be a booking from R&L that says they have no one else and I like the band. But it would defo need mixing up. Bringing Left Behind back in would be good but I don't see their up coming dates setlist being that different from the last arena and fest show one. I was happy with the one arena date, I got XIX, didn't get AOV or Kilpop but did get My Plague and I'll that over them two all day.

yeah it would definitely feel like a last minute booking rather than a first choice, which is why i don't see it happening. this second arena tour does seem rather unusual, but considering they seem to be gearing up for a hiatus after this then they probably want to make the most of playing as Slipknot when they can - probably won't be doing it for another 3/4 years. you'd hope they'd choose to headline another festival come the next album, but i'd bet they'd still do Download. it's not as if Download have many other options - they must scream with glee any time Slipknot, Maiden, Metallica etc announce that they're touring

Yes, and as R&L offer a decent paycheck it's not as if many of their targets sre going to be saying no, it's not enough.

i don't think it'll be them but I do think their return a few years down the line will just be a Download Fest slot as well.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
