Lineup 2016

I see Bloc Party and Drenge are both listed as confirmed on the efests rumours page for R/L, the NME tour makes them more likely but I'm presuming this is a mistake

It used to be that all NME Awards tour participants played R+L that year. The pattern stopped in recent years but most still do so all worthy of a rumour - I would think they all will this year.

If the Roses are at T and most likely Glastonbury, they have no chance of headlining Reading and Leeds. Shame as they'd be the best headliner in years.

Surprised they're doing the Etihad though considering how three of them are massive Man United fans.

Also the way the people speak on this forum, you'd think young people have never had access to music from before they were born. It's almost as if Fool's Gold and She Bangs The Drums never get played at every single Indie/Rock night anywhere in the country on a weekly basis at all. I was at Heaton Park, there was a lot of young people there. Any band with their level of influence they've had are bound to have a young following. They'd go down great.

Glasto will be interesting to see, they obviously weren't going to say yeah we're doing that at the same time as the Etihad.

Yeah I agree, if they're at Glasto then there's no chance, but Glasto end up with Foos / Coldplay / Adele I reckon they'd be in with a decent shout, R&L and T have shared a headliner recently and I think Stone Roses would go down great. Like Yellow said, the reaction on Twitter has been mental all day.

You're right about all the stuff regarding how well loved they are by the young people. I don't think Glastonbury is in the bag yet though; they could just as easily have gone for another payday at R+L.

Don't reckon The Stone Roses will do Glasto but I also wouldn't rule them out for IoW too. Would be great to have them at R&L though as I don't fancy paying loads to see them in Manchester if the rumour of them being supported by Courteeners and Charlatans are true (also have no money to buy tickets with)

The Stone Roses
Foals
Muse

I say that is a strong set of headliners there and is what I'm looking for.

The stone roses are a band who were barely good in the 90s. Hearing monkey boy trying to sing is worth a ticket alone (and no day tickets wouldn't sell out [not that they'll play].

Haven't day tickets sold out every day for a few years now? Why would the day Stone Roses headline be any different?

Wouldn't they announce them all at once? Idk if they'd do R+L and the stadium shows

That'd be like 160k tickets for the stadium shows, I'm not sure the appetite would be there for R+L too, its a lot of tickets to shift

Looking at it from R+L perspective, would you be happy to have your headliner be playing two stadium shows? Would reduce the amount of people buying day tickets dramatically

Well the capacity of Etihad isn't 80k for starters, it is quite a bit less than that. I think it is live music capacity is around 60k. Also considering that Arctic Monkeys did an arena tour, 2 Finsbury dates, TITP and R&L all in one year it is quite feasible that The Stone Roses can play R&L as well. I know Arctics are bigger but if the day ticket prices stay at around £60 day tickets that would make them sell well, especially if the tickets for Etihad are £50/£60 mark

I doubt the venue matters, Reni's a massive City fan but ultimately they'll go where the promoters push them (which will be where the most money is to be made).

You're right about their relevance, a band revered so much and hyped so much on the press will naturally pick up fans of all ages.
