So where the fuck are Shikari this year?? Can't believe  they've not done R+L on this album campaign

On the bright side, I think they've got a new album coming out next year

They were an exclusive to Hevy Fest before that got cancelled

Could well be a secret set, they play Reading and Leeds so much they're crowd favourites, plus they were meant to play a UK exclusive festival show at Hevy the week before Reading until that got cancelled, so they're free to play now.

Beat you to it! Glad someone else had noticed that they were exclusive, definitely makes me think a secret set is on the cards

Shikari secret set then a sub spot at next year's festival.

Enter Shikari aren't that big a deal are they? I might be wrong, but sub seems very high. Courteeners are 3rd down and they're a lot bigger surely?

I'd say Shikari are bigger but a sub spot is too high but saying that they've bumped a lot of acts in the last couple of years.

Courteeners played to 25k people at Heaton Park, and sold out Manchester Apollo 7 times, all in the same year...I know they're not on that level up and down the country but they do ok.

Didn't Coheed and Cambria headline Hevyfest last year? I'd say R&L subs are way too big for that festival.

Courteeners aren't very big outside of Manchester, Shikari are big all over the country and crowd favourites that have come through the ranks (much like Foals). The problem with Hevy this year was they tried to go too big too fast. Shikari was a huge headliner for them, Shikari played 3rd down last time, they've released one album since then, if they release another before playing again i'd be surprised if they didn't sub, although i don't personally think they are big enough to. Although their last tour saw them play arenas and Ally Pally so maybe they are.

I wouldn't count their slot as 3rd, it was 4th really. 3 acts above them on the poster.

I'd expect them to be 3rd down next time, or to "sub" a day with coheadliners. Or maybe headline the NME.

Hope we don't see co-headliners next year but if we did Shikari would definitely be better in the sub role below co-headliners rather than an outright co-headline, NME headliner would probably be ideal, would be better in the tent at night than in the afternoon/evening on main.

Anyone know how easy it is to get an early bird ticket for cheap closer to the festival? I assume loads of people who can't go last minute sell theirs for cheap nearer the time.

Tickets can always be found cheaper, early bird bit more tricky as there's less of them and more people want them, have seen them sold for twice the face value before, that's not to say they can be cheaper

Clara on Radio 1 just said Against the Current are playing, not been announced have they? Quick scan of the poster says not. I mean, they're pretty guff so who cares but I thought I'd mention it.

One of the bands that charge for a 'VIP' meet and greet before their show... I really don't like that and it massively puts me off wanting to get in to a band.

Meeting your fans is part of being in a band and it shouldn't ever be commercialised.

Atleast the fact that Against The Current haven't been announced tells us we still have a few medium(ish) sized bands left to come.

Against the Current aren't medium(ish) sized though. They are a small band.

    • I too am always a bit blurred on what/who constitutes a legend slot but would Sting fit that bill?  Those there said his IoW slot was v good and he has enough of a songbook imo for a Sun afternoon if he uses the Police's 1st 2 albums for a fair chunk of it
    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
