I don't understand why people are using it to justify Foals subbing somewhere then headlining R+L the year after though. For starters, we don't know if Flo is headlining anywhere next year and secondly it's completely down to the act and/or their management.

?????

..........

Like, loads of people in this thread........

Searched Florence and FATM and only found one post saying that will headline because she is subbing at any festival. Anyway I want to be clear that I do think Florence can headline R&L next year and she could have headline festivals this year at a push (thought she was going to headline T at one point this year) but it isn't like she couldn't have headline in 2016 without that sub spot at Glasto. To summarise I'm an idiot and I'm don't know what I'm talking about really.

For thirds, Flo's commercial standing blows Foals' out of the water. Edited by Zac Quinn

Fair point, I don't by any means think you have to sub Glasto to be considered R&L headline worthy. I think she could've done it this year imo. Just think it does help raising profile and theres loads of potential R&L goers who will watch Glasto and want to see some of those acts play R&L as a result. The number of people wanting to see Florence at R&L would increase after a high profile set at Glasto and I think for Foals to move up to becoming headliners that impact of a high up set at Glasto would help them out alot but of course it's not essential.

Fine, replace one of them with Fall Out Boy or something

Just keep Royal Blood

Alright, just a huge misunderstanding on my part then as I agree with that :P

Yeah I wanted to say something like the following in my post but didn't know how to word it.

I think it's natural to see acts doing the same as other acts, and therefore it's natural to picture Foals doing what Flo has done, and sub Glasto on their comeback, before presumably going on to get headline slots the next year. In reality, when you think about it properly, there are so many other factors that make this is too simplistic a way to view it.

It's like when making an R&L prediction, you might see a certain act has played one position the year before, and try to predict a similar act to take the same slot the next year. Happened with Macklemore and Kendrick, but often it doesn't happen.

Not sure I've explained it very well. As I said, didn't know how to put it really.

Nah fam not Royal Blood and Foals in the same year.

Co-headline Klaxon!

Nah, but in all seriousness if I was going to do a prediction for 2017 it would be Royal Blood - Kasabian - Foals but that really doesn't look right give that there's 3 English acts; there's usually always at least 1 non-british headliner.

That trio seems a little bit too NME-ey but it's not like they've never gone for that before: Arctics - Kings of Leon - Radiohead so I guess that doesn't really matter but anyway.

I'd say that 2017 will definitely be Kasabian AND Royal Blood or Foals with an American headliner flung in there I will now a list all the potentials.

Paramore- coming back to headline in their own right and a little less "NME", a little more "Kerrang"; but 2017's probably too soon.

Imagine Dragons - possible but it'd be the worst headliner they'd ever booked and also they'd be just as ''new'' as Foals and Royal Blood so it'd be pointless so let's rule them out and never mention them in this thread again.

Jack White - back on the circuit by I'd have thought. He'd be ''new'' to R&L but not to headlining. I'd be game.

My Chemical Romance - presuming they've reformed.

Presuming they're still relevant: Kings Of Leon, Green Day, The Killers, Arcade Fire (please), Linkin Park.

Curveballin': Kanye West, Daft Punk, Kendrick???

anyway, yeah, sorry to go on,

also say for example patterns did exist we'd be due a co-headline situation in 2017... so Kasabian - Royal Blood / Foals - one of the above.

what fucking pattern is that

2011 - co headliner

2012 - none

2013 - none

2014 - co headliner

2015 - none

2016 - none (probably)

2017 - co headliner?

I don't actually think there'll be a co-headliner in 2017.

I'm not disputing R&L want Foals to get to headline, what I'm disputing i show soon they will do it. If Flo doesn't headline next year and Foals do the world's gone crazy as the difference between them both is staggering. I know this isn't the point here but regardless of whether I'll watch them or not, or that the position doesn't seem to bother them, I personally think Flo at Glasto maybe the booking of the festival circuit.

Where are all these people saying that because Florence is subbing Glasto she is probably going to headline R&L next year?

Apparently Melvin said he wanted to book her this year but couldn't so you'd presume he'll try again next year and considering she subbed last time out she'd headline R&L on return; for me personally Flo subbing Glasto is barely relevant to her headlining R&L in 2016.

Foals album will probably come out this year and I guess they'll have done a tour before the festivals so the album will have had plenty of time to take off. Subbing Glastonbury after that might make the idea of them being headliners look a bit weak.

Managed to get Rock City tickets!

I reckon they will be around 3rd down on main next year, no matter how much people on here hate the thought of that, they are becoming very popular and their second album will undoubtedly have a couple of charting singles on it.

    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
    • Burnham going to go blue labour to ensure he wins makerfield and gets enough nominations from the PLP. How he’d govern is anyone’s guess. Odds on to win anyway so guess we’re not too far away from finding out.
