Lineup 2016

New album is quality. I'd rather these headline than any other new bumped out touted header. Way more deserved than Foals.

Personal tastes shouldn't come into your judgement of whether you think a band CAN headline.

Preferences and logic aren't interconnected for most people.

Also, your tastes suck.

If they can get Bastille in at 3rd down (whom by August will have a 2nd album out I presume), then they could probably get The 1975 to play 3rd down too. They're roughly the same size & fanbase etc etc etc

For the record I think both Bastille and The 1975 are utter swinetripe

Really don't think foals don't have the pulling power quite yet. Future headliners quite possibly but need some more growth yet. Only couple yrs they were playing sugarmill in stoke. Get a successful arena under their belt and not meaning half empty and all curtained off. Doesn't even have be completely sell out just enough pulling power and won't look embarrassing like vampire weekends arena tour.

So I'll go

Florence and the machine

Imagine dragons

Frank turner and the sleeping souls

Blur

Stereophonics

Foals

Foo fighters

Prodigy

You me at six

Can't see Foals playing 3rd - they played that slot in 2013 and if they get an album out before 2016 I think they'll sub at least, possibly headline. Similar with You Me At Six, played 3rd in 2013 and as far as I know they don't have any plans for a new album. If their next album is popular I reckon they'll sub on their next appearance (heaven forbid). Florence / Blur / Foos would be pretty sweet though.

Getting YM@6 3rd down again I think is a bit wishful thinking, they'll sub on return. As said Stereophonics won't play, Imagine Dragons will sub I'd say. Blur is one of my thoughts, not enough at the minute that I'd stake it, same as Flo. I'd be willing to say though if Flo headlines then Foals won't.

I went in 2013 as well forgot they played third

Alright then

Foals subbing blur

Then Brendan flowers from the killers 3rd :\

Yeah in my prediction I put Blur subbed by Foals but it all obviously depends on Foals' next album. Also if Blur play Glastonbury I can only see one of their headliners being grabbed which would rule out both Blur / Foos. Nothing concrete which says R&L can't book both (they'd both be strong bookings) but I can't help but feel they'll not borrow from Glasto too much.

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
