Been listening to quite a few new albums over the last few days. Really enjoying the new Hot Chip and Mini Mansions albums, the latter particularly. Death Cab For Cutie's new album's pretty decent, nothing special but a solid enough record. Quite liked The Cribs album but it's just more of the same really, while The Prodigy's was ok but probably the worst of the lot.

To distract me from the headliner thread can anyone in here recommend me an album of the day to listen to? I did the Courtney Barnett yesterday and the Natalie Prass the day before. Bonus points if the act is rumoured for Glasto and doing Green Man.

Lease Of Life by Errors is getting a lot of love from me at the moment, not playing Green Man, not particularly rumoured for Glastonbury, but fuck tha police, I'll do what I want.

But if it's Green Man acts you want, my pick of those would be No One's Coming For Us by Trust Fund, The Silver Globe by Jane Weaver, Virtue by Emmy The Great, and anything by Owen Pallett/Final Fantasy, but particularly his latest effort In Conflict.

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have a new album, 'Quarters', out in May, hot on the heels of last year's superb 'I'm In Your Mind Fuzz'. Praying they'll be at G.

First track - God is in the Rythm - Streaming https://soundcloud.com/flightlessrecords/king-gizzard-the-lizard-wizard-god-is-in-the-rhythm

Looking good for Glastonbury. Touring America up to 21st June (Washington), then next appearance is Roskilde Festival on 27th June followed by Manchester and London gigs. So they are possible for Friday or Sunday.

It's looking good but not quite as good as that. They're in Holland for Down the Rabbit Hole over G weekend, then Roskilde is the following weekend, then Manchester & London 8th & 9th July. I'd be more confident if those English dates were a week earlier.

Picked up Courtney Barnett and Kendrick today, literally don't know when I'll have time to listen to them, might quit my job and listen to music at home full time.

I defy anyone to listen to the new Go! team and not picture dancing to it in the sunshine on the farm... particularly if you were lucky enough to be there in 2011 on West Holts. Glorious

I keep forgetting about their album! Will get that in over the weekend, but I basically think that about most of their stuff!

West Holts was indeed fantastic!

just gave it a listen and thought the same thing. what on earth happened!? Manners was so good

Oh no. I haven't heard the new song but Manners is brilliant and I'll be sad if the new stuff stinks. Would like to see them At Glasto too.

Saw The Vaccines tonight in Nottingham, new stuff was sounding really good so I'm looking forward to this new album. Dream Lover and Handsome are great, there's one that sound a little like Vampire Weekend too.

I hope they play, although it needs to be JP really. I've seen them five times now and they're definitely better in smaller or more intimate, enclosed venues. Would be rubbish on Pyramid or Other.

New Nils Frahm is bloody gorgeous.

Is that the piano day thing? So glad it's free, 2015 is too expensive for me, although I still wont have time to listen to it once I get it. Very excited to see him in May, though.

It's been really good so far this year. It's hard to form a top 5 but:

Kendrick

Sufjan

Viet Cong

Laura Marling

Ghostface + BBNG

Would probably be mine.

Agree a great year. As we are now 1/4 way through is say my top five,

Father john Misty

Lonelady

Public service Broadcasting

Moon Duo

Errors

It is! I only really use Spotify now, though, so it doesn't really affect me.

    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
    • That's how I'd see it, either or, 3 BST rules her out.
    • Surely the chances of Madonna doing three+ nights at BST and also Glastonbury is pretty low? I know Elton did (2?) nights at BST but it seems like it’s one or the other at this point?   A shame. I think she would be absolutely brilliant - plus, unfortunately, given that she isn’t as able as she was means this could be a now or never situation?
    • All of these were published in July of their respective year. Appreciate the festival is a little later than normal but it must surely be live in the next 48 hours? The first events start in five days! 🤣
