Yup! Reminds me of 2005, when Live8 was happening. I said to my assistant manager at work 'ah, I remember watching the first one with my sisters in our living room.' Her response was 'the first what?' When I explained about Live Aid in 1985, which she'd never heard of, she explained she hadn't even been born then! Made me feel ancient.

Imagine when I tell people I was at Live Aid.

Saw them in 2004 and wasn't impressed. I do remember him being quoted as saying he would never do Glastonbury again and rambling on about the sound being "shit" so can't see them doing it again.

I mean, saying you would never do something again to the press and then doing it again would make you look like a right wan...Oh.. Definately maybe then eh.

(Edit - Should have said Liam was quoted as saying)

Edit Edit - In fact he played it with Beady Eye since so yeah, shows the conviction fo the man.

To be fair to him, after Beady Eye played he did reference his earlier statements and say that Glastonbury was actually really good. Not that Liam would have much of a say I'd imagine. If Oasis came back, it'd be all on Noel's terms I'd expect.

It was utterly fantastic - one of the perks of being a DJ in the 80's was that I got offered tickets to lots of things that were hard to get so I decided to treat myself to a weekend off!!

not sure if you tried to buy them but they were easy to get - cant recall what we did but living in London at that time we were able to buy enough for our friends and ourselves.
for sure on the day they were near impossible but when they were released it was not a 40 minute sell out { the advantage for there not being the Internet }

I think one of the reasons they didn't do well in 95 or 04 is that they're well away from their natural audience. They'll be people in the crowd that quite like them (Christ knows why, but each to their own) but the fanatical, knuckle-dragging Oasis fan base are not usually found at Glastonbury in massive numbers.

who says ' they didn't do well in 95 ' ?
I am not a huge fan but I thought they did well

Ditto, they were pretty bad in 2004. I seem to remember leaving half way through...

I do - the small crowd of non-Glasto type tw@ts didn't help my impression neither - just out of interest what were the crime stats for 1995 and 2004?

The festival is for everyone and not just for hippies. Not every Oasis fan is an uneducated northern criminal.

Hello - Roll With It - Morning Glory
were all claimed to be the first time but as I dont own any of their albums I would not have been aware that they were new

Yup. This was the first public airing of Morning Glory material.

It was also the moment, having enjoyed seeing them a few times in smaller venues, that I realised I didn't like Oasis as much as I thought I did and that I should seriously downgrade my expectations about the likely quality of their second album.

Yep, it was the release of whats the story morning glory that made me see them for what they were. It was a dreadful album. Roll with it is one of the worst songs ever recorded.

And yet people still play that record now and think it's one of the best albums ever made! Staggering stuff.

I've always been quite partial to Some Might Say. I liked all the delay on the vocals.

i thought Some Might Say was shite when i was younger - didn't get why they released it as the first single from the album - but it's really grown on me

i know Oasis are pretty shite, but sometimes there's nothing i wanna do more (usually when pissed) than stick one of their songs on unreasonably loud and belt it out. D'you Know What I Mean has been a personal favourite as of late. such ridiculous cocaine fuelled excess

Sorry to be pedantic, but the above statement isn't entirely correct. They played a warm up gig at Bath Pavilion the night before with the same set list. I didn't go to Glastonbury in 1995 but went to their warm up gig.
