Counting Crows?

I saw Counting Crows in Birmingham last night and Adam Duritz told the crowd they'd be back in the summer to play some festivals. I'm not sure which ones they'll be playing but would have thought they would fit in at Glastonbury better than say V or Leeds/Reading?

I'd love to see them on one of the smaller stages there.

I'm off to see them on Friday. Great live band, hoping they get a slot in the Acoustic.

I would love to see them in Acoustic! Probably a bit optimistic but fingers crossed. I'd guess West Holts. They have played before, not for a while though. Think they were on Pyramid then.

I imagine they'll play a few festivals across Europe so hopefully Glasto is one.

I wouldn't have thought them to be a WH kind of band. More Other, I reckon.

Me too. Cracking venue Apollo. This time round im taking my wife. She's looking forward to it more than me.

As for next year... Im well chuffed with news that they fancy a festival run. My god I hope they play Glastonbury. Afternoon sunlit set would be ideal.

Counting Crows? Is this a joke? How unchallenging and MOR can you possibly get? May as well be done with it - bring on Maroon 5 and Machbox 20 and have them play back to back.

You clearly have no knowledge of them other than the afformention Big Yellow Taxi and that shocker they did for Shrek 2. They have no resemblance to Maroon 5 and Matchbox 20 whatsoever.

Give their Recovering The Satellites album a try. It's not going to get the youth boucing but "How unchallenging and MOR can you possibly get?", a damn sight more than that.

Still. Each to their own and all that :)

I don't like them, i saw them once, dreadful stuff. c**ting crows. BUT I've got no problem really with them existing, they're at the right level. Them that like them can go and see their gigs and they don't impinge on my consciousness, there's a whole host of bands who are equally appalling but fucking ubiquitous and loads of people like them. I'm going to save my bile for those bands. And yes, yes, i do have a list, as it goes.

this band are the pits. There's nothing worse than a "serious" band. c**ts!

I can just see you, hunched over a mahogany desk in your dimly lit study, cackling to yourself as you cross off, one by one, names that are written in frog's blood as you type a particularly vitriolic post on here denouncing their humanity:

-'that'll show 'em. See how you like them apples Mr Sambora.'

He feeds his cat a live mouse, dangling it by its tail.

-'I'll get you next time, Henley.'

shit, did I leave my webcam on?

Honestly I saw the c**ting crows and I was very very drunk and pretty vociferous and loud in my condemnation of them at the time, feel bad about that. Lack of manners.

I quite liked the debut when it came out - Omaha and Mr Jones in particular. Didn't like the second and haven't felt any inclination to listen to whatever they've done since though.

Strangely a US study found that they have some of the most intelligent fans: http://musicthatmakesyoudumb.virgil.gr/

Agreed. They are still pretty popular, sold out 2 dates at the Roundhouse this month and 2 at the Hammersmith Apollo last year. Could even see them doing an afternoon slot on the Pyramid.

Terribly sorry to have offended your (obviously superior) taste in music, maybe you could enlighten us heathens as to which bands we're allowed to like? Edited by mr gumby

    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
