Counting Crows?

Counting Crows? Is this a joke? How unchallenging and MOR can you possibly get? May as well be done with it - bring on Maroon 5 and Machbox 20 and have them play back to back.

The joy of Glastonbury is if you don't like a particular band there's a million other things going on for you to choose from. I could criticise fans of loads of bands I don't like but instead I just don't read threads on them. Each to their own eh?

I desperately hope they're not on the Pyramid and play somewhere smaller for fans to get up close and you can stay wherever you are.

So, Counting Crows are at IoW mid-June, then a gap until a gig in Italy on July 3rd. Is it reasonable to be hopeful of a glasto appearance (considering I like them)?

I think there's a good chance. Hoping for an Acoustic Stage headline set.

I'd put money on an afternoon Pyramid slot (not a lot mind).

More likely than my hoped Acoustic stage set.

You can't beat that moment at the Pyramid when a band plays the only song that 99% of the crowd know :prankster:

Altogether now.....

Mister Jo-oh-ones and me....

Would people even know that one anymore?

Sadly when I saw them at V they played a fucked up rejigged version that bore no resemblance to the original at all. Fucked me right off.

I like that version :)

I was surprised at the show I went to on the recent tour how Mr Jones still gets the biggest cheer. I didn't think they'd have many casual fans attending gigs these days and for the fans with a greater interest, it surely can't be their favourite.

I think Mr Jones is a brilliant brilliant pop song. Others may disagree, but they're wrong.

I think for many, it's just the first song they heard from the band, so holds a special appeal. I could say the same about many bands. For example, 'Kayleigh' was the first song I heard by Marillion, and although I accept that it's a fairly mediocre pop song, and they've produced far better, it'll always have that distinction.

A fair point and is a great song, just thst they have so many better ones.

Now showing as a rumour on the line up page.

Where did that come from?

Well spotted!

They're playing in the Netherlands on the Friday, but then not until the Wednesday after, so a Sunday appearance could be on the cards. Not sure if there's any more to it.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
