Getting over a break up?

Really having a bad night tonight. Cannot stop thinking about it, keeping me awake even though I'm telling my brain to think about something else.

Hope you get some respite soon. If it's of any use, I now realise that I wasted an awful lot of time thinking about a break up once. I'll never get that time back. Nor will you if you stick with these thoughts. Just a thought - why don't you buy a book you've really wanted to read and only read it when you are going through one of these periods to distract yourself.

Yeah its not going to hurt relieving ones self ... (well unless you are into that sort of thing...) as along its away from those thoughts.

But yeah you have to distract yourself, have you considered an MMORPG to indulge in? Always a good break from reality in my book!

A MMO isn't going to help him sleep though. If couchy's kept awake thinking about it a MMO won't help at all. If he plays it at night he won't get to sleep either, and playing during the day will just leave him feeling tired but with his brain buzzed and his body not having exercised much.

Video games are a fantastic distraction during evenings on your own, but they're terrible if you're lying awake thinking about something.

for me, if I'm really down (like when trying to get over a relationship), having a w*nk does very little to make things much better

i appear to be in the minority though (going by the straw poll here...)

you're not supposed to do it at her place of work while begging her to take you back though.

You don't sleep if you get into an MMO.....you exist on redbull and sugary snacks :P

I've found getting quite involved in something like an MMO, guides you thoughts to that naturally rather than sort of forcing yourself to read something while still thinking about thinking about the ex. (If that makes sense.)

Basically i am proposing replacing the addiction to the ex with something else :P

I never found any MMOs compelling enough to continue with. That said, I have a ridiculous DOTA 2 addiction which is probably just as bad.

Yeah, finding a new addiction as a major mid-term distraction isn't a terrible idea, but if possible I'd say couchy would be better off spending time with friends.

gaming is a pretty cheap way of wasting time, chasing woman can be expensive unless he becomes the plaything of some bored rich cougar via Ashley Madison or some similar site
