Aren't they doing BST the weekend of RW. If they are they might well play. Weller was boring as hell at TITP last year

Dont know where else to ask than here on this splendid forum :-)

I think the line up is beginning to take form and be really good now with these last band adds. This year will be the first time for me at Werchter (about time!).

A question; I am planning on driving from Norway to Belgium with my 7. months pregnant wife (crazyness I know but what to do when you reeeeeeaally want to visit Werchter before the baby comes;-) And therefore we want to stay at a hotel during the festival. Leuvens hotel options are quite bloody expensive so it seems the best option is to order an hotel in Mechelen. But is this to far away from werchter and the festival area?

I asked the festival officials about this and they said its not possible to go back and forth by train from Mechelen and Leuven because there are no trains going after the shows ends at night. Is this correct?

What to do? Pay overprice for rooms in Leuven? Put my beloved well pregnant wife in a tent in the camp (no option really if I know her well enough...and i do!) Or book a room in Mechelen (where she can be IF not in good conditions enough to be at a rockfestival)?

Do you understand my dilemmas??

And again sorry for posting this here, but know not a better place to do so...

Try Boardhouse hotel, leuven. We stopped there last year and booked again this year. Excellent rooms at reasonable prices. One stop on train to leuven train station about 4 minutes then get on free bus to festival. Good luck.

Don't worry, Pinkpop and Werchter totally cannot be compared. Except for last year, Pinkpop has been playing the 'worst lineup at a major European festival' card for years.

Mechelen is not that far (+/- the same distance as Leuven). But... shuttle busses run only to Leuven railstation and you can't get any trains at night/late to other railstations, for example to Mechelen. That's the problem. You can search for a cheap hotel around Mechelen/Leuven/Brussels and go by car to the festival. Keep in mind you have to pay 15€/day to park your car and some of the day parkings are a few kms from the venue.

Nobody can tell you how much money you should take. The only thing we can do is set some prices for the most important things and you can make your own calculation.

If you have a festival/camping ticket transport in Belgium by train (download separate trainticket) and shutlle bus from Leuven to the festival/campsite and back is free.

Drinks (beer/softdrinks): 2,5 euro (1 coupon).

Food: from 2 coupons/5 euro (French fries) till 8 coupons/20 euro.

Toilets on festivalsite/campsite are free, showers on campsite 2 euro till 4 euro.

Lockers on campsite: 7 euro (day) and 20 euro (4 days)

If you play it well and stock up on food that will not go off in the heat and also pre-buy drinks, both beer and water... you can comfortably survive off 10 euros a day depending on how big your appetite is

Obviously the amount you spend can depend on the weather and how many cups of beer you want to throw in to the air when Foos take to the stage.

You might want a shower and you also might spend a couple of euros going for an immaculate shit just outside of The Hive should times get desperate.

Id say overcompensate and be safe; bring around 25 euros per day but bring sensible food and drink to last you. P.s. I don't know how much the shuttle is as I always drive in to Leuven.

Don't worry, Pinkpop and Werchter totally cannot be compared. Except for last year, Pinkpop has been playing the 'worst lineup at a major European festival' card for years.

Just to make it clear: as of right now I think RW has the best lineup so far, for my taste, but that can change of course. I'll explain myself why I am worried because of pinkpop lineup:

1. Both festival used the same trick in putting the most desirable headliners on both ends of the festival. Pinkpops' middle day looks very bad, same as RWs' Friday is (for now), while Saturday does not possess "real" RW headliner either.

2. The amount of quality names which are possible to come to RW hasn't changed with Pinkpop announcement. While the pool of names remains the same, other Belgium festivals will take some of the names from RW (like Les ardentes today and that festival yesterday with TTMOE).

3. As Muse and Foo's are on both festivals I kinda thought there will be a competition between the two and I was hoping RW will have to make a push. I was wrong.
