Pinkpop is announcing its first headliner on Monday. Just like Metallica last year, a whole bunch of festivals confirmed in one go?

I'd say so. I'm 90% sure i'm going to PP next year now RW is over Glastonbury weekend so i'm looking forward to that announcement.

What bother me is the 'rejuvenate' thing (taken from google translate). What is it means? @Dietediet?

It was bothering me as well. It basically means they want to give the festival a younger appeal. They don't mention how exactly, but if it's the lineup... The first thing I thought of were the Friday and Sunday this year, which had 'teenage crowd' written all over it.

In other news: not only Pinkpop but also Download is giving names next week, and according to the people here Muse is playing Download. Perhaps it's not Muse but Foo's announcing fest dates next week?

Oh boy, you mean more Pop and one album 'wonders'?

Exactly what I fear. We've been having an awful lot of one album wonders and poppy acts in the past 2 editions, and that didn't exactly bring down the ticket sales. With the 'younger appeal' I'm afraid we're having a permanent trend.

I can't see them turning into a pure pop festival with bookings like Rihanna or Taylor Swift. But with Coldplay, The Script, Ed Sheeran, Pharrell, Ben Howard, Selah Sue, ... there's plenty of big shots from the pop demographic available.

That's the way of pretty much every mainstream festival, its just what's popular at the minute.

Big dance acts - YES

The Script - No

If the script are around at the time, they'll play. Seem to play on every tour!

If big dance acts are not taking place of good band like last year Thursday thats ok, but if bringing Major Lazer make them get away with Nutini as a sub and Goulding as third down - that's a big No!

Its also fair to have acts like the Script as long as they're in its proper place (before Phoenix, KoL and Blur in 2013).

Curveball, but I think the Libertines are definitely going to be playing. New album on the cards and they'll no doubt be out to saturate. Also, rumours are going around that Oasis are getting back together, now with the split of the awful Beady Eye, I reckon this could be on the cards. The indie acts will be rife, I reckon these will all be on:

Oasis
The Libertines
Damon Albarn
Metronomy
Jamie T
Haim
Foo Fighters
The Hives

It was the first week in December last year if I remember right, this will be my first year in 4 not going over to Rock Werchter (Glastonbury comes first) I couldn't recommend it enough to people, if you don't have a glastonbury ticket or are just looking for a different european festival to go to get to werchter, it's as good as it gets!!

Foos confirmed on the radio apparently.

A Dutch radio presenter said that Foos would be announced for Pinkpop and Rock Werchter soon. So likely this week.

Wouldn't mind if The Who wanted to take a quick run over to Werchter after their BST gig to close off the Sunday.

The best The Who can do is a co-headline construction with a younger band playing after them, sort of like Depeche Mode. That or TW Classic.

    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
    • And all (or all but one) of the secret sets repeats though?
    • 1. Coming with my sister (our 4th Sziget together) 2. 3 days (Thursday-Saturday). Would rather do Tuesday-Thursday but not enough AL 😞 3. Wednesday evening  4. Apartment  5. FATM (will be my 10th Florence’s gig) 6. Parcels/Paris Paloma
