In the interest of balance and fairness I thought we should have a thread to discuss this possibility. :-)

They will potentially be there on a Sunday, at some point in the future...

Love em? Hate em?

A few years ago East 17 were on the thursday night.

I would do a crap pop night in the dance tent on the thursday. I think it would be a great way to start the festival. 1 direction would be perfect... But they are too big at the minute.

People would probably hate the idea, but Id enjoy it.

I was thinking more acts like

They don't really exist for me: I'm a 34 yr old male. I don't read tabloids, don't watch much tv, listen to TeamRock on the radio, and I have very little contact with kids and teenagers.

So for me, they're little more than a collection of haircuts! The music does seem to be various huge rip-offs of 70s/80s tunes though. I can't imagine I'd ever watch em at Glastonbury, but I don't hate them: they're terrible pop bollocks but there's a very big market for such 'entertainment'

I don't 'hate' them at all, they seem like nice enough lads and to be honest if I was offered that kind of money I wouldn't think twice about doing what they do. saying that though I did get annoyed when I was watching a video and one of them had a rush t shirt on.

They are young enough to go in to downward drug fuelled, breakdown and disappear into oblivion really soon as many other teen stars have done.

Here's hoping anyway :)

The way that I see it is, if they write their own songs and play their own instruments, well fair play to them.

Doesn't mean I have to like their music. But I will respect them for doing it.

The Beatles didn't turn out too bad. Did they? ;-)>

Just burst out laughing at work when I saw this inevitable thread. I'd love them to turn up and watch a silent audience of 10 people gather to see them then disperse about 5 minutes later. Sadly they would probably be quite popular, especially in the Kids Field.

I'd love to be all anti-boyband, however the last gig I went to was MCBUSTED. Yes, I know!

What was even worse, was that I really enjoyed it! I'm even concerned for myself.

I don't think one direction will do Glastonbury this year, perhaps one year they may. But then take that haven't and they're like the biggest boyband there was!

    • With this being a fallow year do we know if the Beeb is going to show any past years highlights or make sets available on Iplayer to give us some glasto content as we await a return to the fields?

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
