how do I explain it?

as Neil says, it's the way of the world.

I'd imagine the extra shows have been added because they think there's a demand. Who knows?

Sorry to say this but a cursory glance at a typical secondary site seems to show a fair few: http://www.getmein.com/tickets/prince-tickets/birmingham-257361.html

555 tickets available. Wouldn't say there are hundreds under face value, but they have plenty of general admission at £49ish, which I think was less than face value?

Jesus, why do people on here overanalyse every little pointless detail.

Who actually cares if these gigs (or any gigs ) are sold out due to high demand or sold out because secondary sites have snapped up tickets in a mad rush? If you want a ticket, buy a ticket. If you don't, why do you care?

Secondary ticket sites have been operating in this way for years, there's nothing about the Prince situation that's new or particularly interesting.

The prince forums when I looked last night had plenty moaning at having to put their overbought tickets on stub hub and the like for less than face value to have a hope of shifting them when all they wanted was to get face value back
