park "secret" gigs

I didnt get a ticket 12 momths ago and avoided Glasto like the plague. I avoided this site, and the TV. Were there any Park secret gigs, ala Radiohead and Pulp the Glasto before & Radiohead in 2010?

No not at the Park. Something weird did go on though on Sunday night where loads of people expected one and (from what I hear) were led to believe there was something, ultimately ending up stuck watching nothing.

No for health and safety reasons there are no more secret gigs.

I went up there for Radiohead... and hoped Glastonbury would never do these high profile secret gigs again... it was really unpleasant and the hill was just destroyed and became almost impossible to traverse the rest of the weekend due to the crowds/weather.

Saw Madness at a secret gig in Lost Vagueness in a very small venue several years ago. To me , that was what secret gigs at Glastonbury should be like. Was absolutely fantastic. Crowd went completely mental. One of my best ever gigs.

Nope as most people have said they have been stopped due to health and safety, the closest you may get is DJ sets such as Fatboy Slim then Chase and Status on Arcadia last year, only annouced on the day...

Didn't Franz Ferdinand hand out flyers for their own secret set in 08 as well as the Last Shadow Puppets

None at the park as far as I'm aware but there were still some unannounced acts (beady eye, skrillex, jagwar ma did a secret gig, probably others as well)

Then Fatboy slim afterwards, was really good and even though it was rammed, for the size of it wasnt that rammed. 2007 i believe.

Yep, 2007. And with FBS afterwards ,what a night. Twas in the LV Ballroom. I was right at the front with the family and a posse of mates. Good clip of younger daughter aged 13 on my shoulders here

XX and a few others did BBC introducing

Jagwar Ma (as Jagwar Ma Soundsystem - DJ's), Toy, Teleman and others did the Crows Nest, loved that place

Gutted I missed that. Was really close, in the Greenfields and knew it was on but couldn't be arsed to drag my sorry butt up the hill to see it. Damn.

Secret gigs are great. Loved Radiohead and Pulp in the past but they need to be kept 'secret' in the future to keep their credibility.

Steve Mason did a secret set in the Crows' Nest on Sunday night, technically a secret Park show.

Saw Radiohead and Pulp, but they weren't really secret gigs. Everyone knew by the morning of each of them what was happening. Both were packed too. I do like the concept, however I also would live in fear of missing something amazing if they were really kept secret.
