Just read that article on line the advice of their 'expert' is to avoid alcohol when sunny..... Yeah right like that's going to happen at Glasto

We were talking at work yesterday how bad the British are with their health when the sun is out. What you should really be doing is covering up as much as possible to stop the sun damaging your skin and not drinking alcohol to avoid dangerous dehydration (which is what most people in hot countries do).

We however expose as much of our skin as we can and drink large quantities of alcohol. I prefer our way of doing things

UK Outlook for Thursday 19 Jun 2014 to Saturday 28 Jun 2014:

High pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern across the UK, meaning a continuation of the fine and dry spell for many places. However, there will be a fair amount of cloud at times as weak weather systems try to make inroads from the northwest, but equally, most places should also see some warm sunshine. Temperatures on the whole will be above the seasonal average, particularly where sunshine is more abundant, however the exception to this will be the far southeast, where cooler conditions are expected, particularly on coasts, due to a north or northeasterly breeze. Towards the end of this period, the far north and northwest of the UK may see a change to slightly more unsettled conditions with some rain at times, as well as stronger winds.

It's actually good to expose your skin to the sun. Some believe that more people die from cancers due to vitamin D deficiency than from skin cancer.

If you want light hearted, get yourself round to the NFR NFC thread and enjoy some laffing. You may also find some v heavy references to sacrifices made to the weather gods, who - after all - are in charge of the weather.

The Oak trees in our garden were in leaf earlier than I've known for a long time. We don't have any Ash trees so I can't verify Michael's findings as far as they're concerned.

Accuweather showing goods signs as are the other sites, maybe a reluctance to enthuse to much, possibly pessimistic about any change, 10 days to go, it could change................ waits with baited breath until the 5 days comes into within a weeks forecast, then we'll know... well almost!

I'm anxious now, even though if the weather forecast is bad at this stage I can dismiss it as being too inaccurate due to the timeline, I hate it when we get to a week before- the tension is unbearable!

What day next week releastically can we look ahead and think this is going to be it pretty much 90 per cent correct now? Then again the rain of Thursday last year wasn't forecast even a few days before...

I think next Sundays Countryfile will give us a general outlook but as we all know nothing is set in stone.
