Sounds like it's a very bad April Fools:

  1. Really weird embargoed April Fools from the Glastonbury press office

  2. @MikeDiver it just feels bizarre more than anything else, the embargo is weird, the content feels a bit patronising to homeless people

  1. @MrLukowski i guess you can't say but is it bad?

    11:54 PM - 31 Mar 2014 · Details
  2. @martynjenkin it's just a bit odd, ridiculous in a slightly tumbleweed way, slapping on an embargo til 1pm is definitely overegging it

    1. I don’t know if the press release I got at 1am from Glastonbury is an April Fools or not. Stop fecking with my mind! #WhoIsLongy

    2. @WynonaGrant haha glad I'm not the only one who fell for it

    3. @AdamL93 I stayed up till 2.30 and wrote a news piece, ARE YOU SERIOUS? UGGGGGHHHHHH.

    4. @WynonaGrant haha oh god... Got to admit, I did read over it about 4 times before it clicked haha

well it was blatantly a load of shit for those that read it properly.

It starts by saying he will headline Sunday 29th June , but then goes onto say they have held the Saturday night slot open for him...!!

Obviously a shocker of an April fools attempt !

it's complete bullshit. There is no press release embargod or otherwise.

Well all of these people claim to have received something, they all sound like the same thing, and it seems to be the article purplehelen44 linked to above (maybe made up by this Longy bloke?):

Daft Punk, David Bowie, Prince? Nope, it’s @whoislongy. @GlastoFest #whoislongy

FACT mag reckon the Longy thing is all linked to Kasabian: http://www.factmag.com/2014/04/01/glastonbury-announce-spoof-headliner-longy-but-who-is-it-really/

GLASTONBURY ANNOUNCE SPOOF HEADLINER ‘LONGY’ – BUT WHO IS IT REALLY?

The festival announce an anonymous busker for the Pyramid Stage – but is it an April Fool?

Earlier this morning, Glastonbury organisers sent out an email announcing that Longy, an “unknown act from Essex” who entered the festival’s Emerging Talent competition earlier this year, had been picked to close the festival on Sunday, June 29.

The suspicious email linked to the website of the mysterious busker, where you can pre-order his EP, browse his Instagram and watch him in a handful of YouTube videos, all of which show him performing with his face obscured.

Donning our Sherlock caps for moment, FACT staffers took a close listen to his single ‘Love Schizophrenia’ and reflected on the fact that British bookies previously stopped taking bets on one band to headline the festival – Kasabian.

If Longy turns out to be a proxy for the Brit rock quartet, the website also suggests that a selection of the busker’s forthcoming gigs, all at tiny venues like Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen, will actually be performed by Kasabian.

The other acts confirmed for Glastonbury so far are headliners Arcade Fire plus The Black Keys, Blondie, Dolly Parton, Disclosure, Lana Del Rey, Lily Allen and Warpaint.

    • I wouldn’t be surprised if it was £425.  If I recall there was a significant jump about 10 years ago and with the prices of gigs significantly inflating in the last couple of years I can see another big jump coming.
    • I think they are just sold out ..... I find it highly unlikely that the entire arena wouldn't go on sale for a band the size of muse straight away.   Theres also some in those blocks on sale on resale sites
    • Personally, I do hope Fontaines headline next year. Feels like it's their time in terms of the contemporary element - I know 2028 could equally be but I think (and speaking as an old git) they are probably the most significant band to emerge for a good few years, and they've already accumulated 4 great albums, let alone adding 5th, to field a memorable setlist.

    • Alright fair, I thought she only did BST once. Though I do question how that type of pop show will translate to a stadium.
