for the rock music connoisseur types/snobs (meant as a compliment) - like a lot on this thread - claiming there's too much rubbish these days on the Pyramid, the War on Drugs right into Rodrigo y Gabriela early on the Friday is a welcome sight. I'll enjoy them, but I do feel bad for a band like War on Drugs whom I was hoping would get the curious, or the 'nothing was on, thought i'd hang out at pyramid, have heard the buzz' crowd to see what they were all about when there's a potential Coldplay/Mumfords into Blondie mass crowd on the Other Stage. just a ridiculous disappointment for them surely. They even got a specific callout/mention by Eavis on the lineup announcement and I was fascinated by the amount of people on other threads here saying they wanted to see TWOD as a 'must', quite a few converts on here too....but, if some of you on here are saying Blondie wins out, i'm sure there are others who are going to be changing their plans too. a shame...but i don't understand some of the "my group will want to see Blondie, so I can't see TWOD" excuses...f'in see what you want to see, you've got the whole weekend to see your mates.

I'm looking forward to it, happy to know at that time of day that i'll get a nice close spot well inside the barrier to see one of my favorite bands in the 'past 2 album cycle period', at my favorite stage in music, and know i'll still be able to resupply on the drinks in-between sets and be back in front for two of the best musicians of the weekend on right after. My round if any of you are doing the double up near the front too...

I'm seeing them Thursday chief but will join you up the front next month.

Jesus fucking Christ an ocean in between the waves is fucking incredible. Every time I listen to it that first little guitar fill makes the hairs on the back of me neck stand up, gorgeous.

aye, probably the best song I've heard this year. They've been starting gigs with it too - so excited for Wednesday and might well see them at Glastonbury too

the new album isn't even remotely as good as 'slave ambient'. fucking loved that album. 'lost in the dream' is pretty much MOR dad rock to me. and i think his melodies are really predictable.

anyway, still going to see them tonight at koko. should be good, apart from the sleep inducing stuff like 'suffering'. hope they play 'come to the city', 'arms like boulders', 'it's your destiny', 'original slave'... not holding out hope for all of those though :/

enjoy Thurs, let us know how they were. & let's try to better coordinate early friday on the pyramid this year, as I think we were tentatively gonna try to meet up before Savages' williams green set last year.

Must be tough - after years of Boss naysaying - to fall in love with a tribute act...

With Danny & The Champions of the World on at the Acoustic later on theres a bit of a Springsteen tribute band flavour developing on Friday. Give us the Hold Steady and the 59 Sound and we'd have the set.

I'll be at the Pyramid for most of the early afternoon on the Friday mate.

Incidentally I was at Savages at Williams Green last year. Hella busy.

As stated upthread I'm seeing these on Thursday and havent looked forward this much to a show in a long time.

Ive been studiously avoiding all info about the tour from setlists to videos etc - totally unlike me! - in anticipation.

One of my fave records in recent years playing my favourite venue in the world, best mate along for the ride. Epic stuff folks.

on the bus home from tonight's show in london.

It was fucking great. The new songs are better live than on the record. Under the presh-shaaa is fucking epic live. He closed with arms like boulders.

Only downside was a different arrangement of baby missiles which isn't great. But hey, they played for a full two hours.

three, but i think they kind of ignore the first one (Wagonwheel Blues) now. the latest two, Slave Ambient and Lost In The Dream, are both fantastic (especially the latter)

Do they play any of Wagonwheel Blues live? Never seen them live before but interesting that you say they disregard it. Obviously it's got something to do with Kurt Vile?

no they play nothing from it anymore. not sure of the exact reasons but i'd assumed it was because it didn't really get much attention on release and they've released two well received / popular albums since so they'd rather just play songs from them. have him and Kurt Vile fallen out now? i assumed they were still on good terms

umm... sorry, but they do. was at the gig in london last night and they closed with 'arms like boulders'.also played 'comin through', that's off that future weather EP which is a bit older than the last two records.

It'd be cool if they do play some - it's my favourite record of theirs!

I don't think they've fallen out, I just asked as I thought they might not play it due to Kurt's input with him going solo. They'll be great either way!
