The album's good.

..... but no mention of Dire Straits.

An Ocean in Between the Waves basically is So Far Away/Sultans. With more BPM.

Edit: I've seen plenty of comparisons to both Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler.

I totally get a Dire Straits vibe from them.

..... Sound awesome!

Does. Not. Compute.

Dylan, Knopfler, Springsteen, and I'll throw in The Verve on "I Was There" or even on my fave War on Drugs track "Come to the City" where I could imagine Nick McCabe and Simon Tong having a go at that one...

so, if Brighton as 'only Glasto warmup gig' being on the 25th, can we assume they're Friday then?

Yeh i have been listening to these this morning after all the hype on this forum and though not really a big fan of American soft rock really like these guys, i can see the Dylon Dire Straits crossover connection. Saw the KEXP you tube stuff as well , really good stuff, i am listening to " Lost in a Dream " now. " Red Eye" and " Ocean between the waves"are my faves so far. Depending on where and when they play i will look out for them. Nice find.

I must have listened to their new album 15 times already, still love it. Album of the year for me. (so far)

probably my most played album in a long time. been some strong album releases this year thus far but i think this album is at the top for me at the moment. i keep forgetting that they're all but confirmed for Glastonbury. gonna take a hell of a clash to stop me from seeing them

I've listened to the latest album a few times and I'm just not feeling it. Given the Springsteen comparisons, I thought I would. Maybe the suggested Dire Straits overtones are killing it :)

Anyway, I will try to persist as they are also on at Latitude so I could also see them there. Which of the older stuff is worth a listen? Maybe I should try that first.

Best Night, Brothers, Come To The City and Baby Missiles off their last album (Slave Ambient) are all fantastic (whole album's pretty great to be fair)

The last three minutes of "An Ocean in Between the Waves". Especially the bit where he goes Woooh! Love a crescendo me ....

That solo Simon. Utterly glorious in every respect.

You going to the G this year chief?

This (assuming it's true) is top top news. I ferkin love their new album especially "An Ocean in between the waves" and I notice radio 6 are playing them quite heavily at the moment.

On the stylistic front I get more Dave Gilmour than Mark Knopfler

Any chance of his old chum Kurt Vile turning up n' all?

Not as a part of the war on drugs but his there is a gap in his tour from 22nd June to 10th July. Saying that though don't see any reason why he couldn't guest with them for a song if they are both there around the same time

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
