I'm not even going to be at Glasto but I'm so looking forward to this on behalf of all you lucky, lucky folk!

Battery would be a killer opener. Or Blackened. I really don't think they'll change it up too much from a standard sorta set any more than they usually do.

I just hope the BBC show all of it so I can rock out in spirit (in my living room) with you guys.

Can you tell I'm jealous?

Radio 6 have confirmed they are airing it in full, don't know about TV yet but you'll at least be able to listen and we'll be able to get bootlegs within a week.

I think it will be one of those two. They will want to start with a bang and they often start with creeping death. But they have also played MoP first a couple of times this year (for the first time ever I think? Someone coul correct me on that) as well and I have a sneaking feeling it could well be that. Everyone would go mental!

I think there's definitely going to be a few curve balls in this set but personally I'd like them to carry on with creeping Death. I have a sneaky suspicion that they could possibly start with Enter Sandman to please the doubters...who knows??

I was in the exact same boat fella, I didn't bother registering this year because I'd had enough of the stress on ticket sale day (we missed out last year) As soon as it was announced that Metallica were headlining I was mortified that I wouldn't be there. Luckily, a lad I play Football with works in music managment and he's managed to wangle a couple of hospitality wrist bands for me and the wife at late notice. I can not wait, years of having to put up with mundane shite like Beyonce, Jay Z, Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, Elbow et al and now finally, after all these years, the only thing that Glastonbury has been missing, a good old Metal band have turned up as headliners after Queens paved the way a couple of years before.

Playing Enter Sandman first would be wrong, the field would empty afterwards I reckon. I've seen it before. When I saw refused they played New Noise half way through the set and the place emptied despite the fact they went on to play for another 30 or so minutes. If people leave gigs after hearing a bands iconic song I'm sure they'll leave a festival set with lots of alternatives.

Metallica have a handful of songs that would go down well as glasto set openers :)

Say your prayers little one, don't forget my son to include everyone.

SCREAM FOR ME GLADSTONEBERRRRY.

The opening is quite heavy, but i think they will open with a total smasher.

What's the odds on a bit of a Led Zepp cover with Robert Plant joing them on stage?

Can't be arsed to start a new thread, but billy big bollocks - Bruce Dickinson on Glasto

“Personally I have no interest in going to Glastonbury.

“In the days when Glasto was an alternative festival it was quite interesting.

“Now it’s the most bourgeois thing on the planet. Anywhere Gwyneth Paltrow goes and you can live in an air-conditioned yurt is not for me.”

The band isn’t impressed by the perceived favouritism and exposure certain mainstream festivals get over others.

“The fact that the BBC sends thousands to film it, whereas they can’t be a***d to turn up to Sonisphere or Download with a camper van and a hand-held says it all to me,” said Bruce.

“We’ll leave the middle classes to do Glastonbury and the rest of the great unwashed will decamp to Knebworth and drink lot of beer and have fun.”

It wont be but I would love it if they opened the same way as S&M.

With the BBC Symphony Orchestra or LSO maybe?

1. The Ecstasy of Gold

2. The Call of Ktulu

3. Master of Puppets

awesome. i love that not long after the albums release they pretty much said they weren't gonna play some songs from it live again because they were too long / hard to play, but here we are 26 years later hearing songs from the album played live for the first time

apart from The Frayed Ends Of Sanity (and the addition of Creeping Death) i'd say that'll roughly be what our setlist will look like (hopefully without Lords Of Summer also - not a bad song but unnecessary)

really hope we get Blackened!

Good comment on there, after Lars talks about a pig's head being thrown on stage at Donington in '85....

"He'll be disappointed when they are hailed with falafel rather than meat."

people will find any reason won't they?

maybe i'll start a Remove Kasabian campaign with the reason being they support and take part in the manufacture of shit music

edit: not that i'm in support of or condone big game hunting, but if it wasn't this it'd just be something else
