Why? Just to be a smartarse?

It's really a waste of your time and theirs. Those chat things are generally staffed by a customer service assistant, who probably doesn't even work for the promoter (this kind of service is generally bought in) and will have very little idea of what's going on other than the little information they've been given (ie a list of faqs).

The same person you chatted with, at the sasme time, was probably helping someone with their washing machine repair and someone else interested in buying a new TV. Basically, more often than not, they're no better informed than the person asking the questions.

I asked as I got an email from a company and it had the line up poster in it and it didn't say exclusive anymore so went on to the website then saw there was a chat option at the bottom of the screen and thought why not ask. If it had changed then the person would still have been informed.

Not really being a smart arse...I hardly thought I'd get given top secret info.

Also you don't know that, it might be someone who is heavily involved that answers on there. They were quite chatty actually and seemed to know a few other things so you're guess is as good as mine.

Looking at the Sonisphere website it says "Metallica - By Request". The "By Request" element is a means for the fans to pick the set lists. I wonder if the "By Request" element is the UK exclusive and therefore Metallica playing their own set list is a loophole to the "UK exclusive" clause? Sorry if this has been posted before.

I'm quite up for Metallica (if it's confirmed obviously), it's something a bit different and will shake things up a bit, so why not?

Give it a go, if it doesn't work, don't book an act like them again.

likewise, i just hope there's not to many music snobs delibratly making assholes of themselves to 'annoy the metal fans' sadly seen a few suggesting this on various forums when discussion of Metallica playing has come up, it seems heavy metal shouldn't be allowed at 'their' festival close minded bastards saw one guy even posting he was delibratly going to sit down in the middle of wherever the Metallica fans are so they can't move around(good luck with that is all I can say) I just hope everybody has a good time and lets others have a good time, no need for that close minded bullshit

spot on my man

Having seen Metallica a few times over the years I have to say they've always been excellent. Looking forward to seeing how well the crowd react.

Although I do tend to think the crowd at a headling act has less bearing on how enjoyable a gig is compared to that of a slot further down the billing.

Not too sure if many will agree, but the darkness coupled with the levels of

Inebriation usually mean im less aware of being surrounded buy passivity or negativity towards a performance.

I will be somewhat furious if the predicted clash between Metallica and Pixies happens also, but its a nice problem to have i suppose.

I can't believe this is still being discussed. Kili have released 3 posters for each day of the festival. Here's the Sunday -

The only poster with out the exclusive tag is the Friday, as obviously The Prodigy aren't exclusive.

I'm going to break some news to you.

Exclusives are as real as Keith Chegwin's career prospects are.

I think its been mentioned here but I can see Soni saying "Metallica By Request is a UK exclusive"

meaning they will play glastonbury but we won't be able to pick what set they play

Metallica's whole tour is by request, I highly doubt that will change for one show.

People have been questioning why the exclusive tag was removed from the write up, now it's back as clear as day on the posters, people have been contacting Kili through twitter, live chat and other means and they have still said Metallica are Sonisphere exclusives. Heck, Neil isn't totally sure, he changes his mind by the day. No doubt it will end up being Prince as the final headliner.

Not that I'm that bothered about metallica but if there was a band I really liked on and some twat sat in the middle of the floor at the front of the stage just to piss everyone else off i'd kick the c**t right to the side of the head

If you're so sure make a bet :P

If metallica don't headline you have to buy a years membership of gold to this site :P

As somebody who has never had the remotest interest in anything metal, I can confirm that I will be as far away from Metallica as possible, if this happens as predicted. I hope that anyone with half a brain recognises that there is so much to see & do , no point wasting precious time at something you've no interest in. If it's not your thing, be elsewhere.

Nope, I haven't.

I still don't have that golden nugget of info which would have me post "they're definitely playing, guaranteed".

But they're definitely playing. :)

So you don't think it will be anyone else say Prince, Neil Young, Elton John, Radiohead, Oasis, Fleetwood Mac or any other band that could realistically play who aren't in an exclusive contract to play another UK festival a week later. etc
