Heard its the former, not heard any solid rumours about the latter.

It's definitely 3 days, Dunno if they'll have both mainstages open Friday, or if it'll start later like in the past, I reckon with pricing, and the fact they seem to be encouraging people to go Thursday (by including EE in all weekend camping tix) it's going to be 3 full days.

looks like metallica won't be playing another date after all.

The remaining dates on this summer's European tour have been announced including shows in Helsinki, Stockholm, Oslo, Horsens, Rome, Basel, and Warsaw. Don't forget to vote for the setlist after you buy your tickets - make sure your voice is heard!

Sonisphere retweeted an article by Metal Hammer which had about ten guesses for the headliner which were like Foos, Muse, Machine Head, Tool, Slayer, Sabbath etc. And Sonisphere said some good guesses going on here.

Here's the article:

Yeah I think it'll be Sabbath now. Not doing Reading and Leeds, and you'd expect a UK festival if they're doing the rest of Europe. Soundgarden are supporting them everywhere, so that'd be a good bet to happen here too. SOAD don't seem to be doing anything, so I expect that rumour to be wrong.

Black Sabbath

Soundgarden

Iron Maiden

Machine Head

Metallica

Slayer

Maybe Machine Head headlining second with Placebo subbing instead. Can't remember which days Maiden and Metallica are confirmed for.

May do a prediction at some point but can see Soundgarden, Placebo and Bullet for My Valentine being the subs. Although any of those six could headline the Saturn stage also as it's a fairly similar sized slot. Plus can definitely see Mastodon and Alice in Chains returning.

Yeah Soundgarden and Sabbath would definitely get me thinking about a day ticket, but I fear I'll have the same problem with Download where the bulk of the undercard just really isn't for me. Having said that, if it was similar to the Saturday mainstage at Download this year I'd probably be alight because I quite liked the look of that (bar Maiden headlining :P)

Actually, thinking about it Soundgarden into Sabbath is the same as Download 2012, and then you've obviously got Metallica there as well- are they really going to go for that?

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
