Caught latter half of Nick Cave at Glastonbury this year and really did not get it I'm afraid.

Springsteen in 2010 was awful to me, saw him many many years ago in Leeds and he was really good, maybe it's my age.

I don't really want to resurrect the argument about the merits or otherwise of Springsteen, which has been well flogged in the past. Yes he's produced some turgid stuff but pick anyone with such a large back catalogue and you'll find some turkeys.

However I've also seen him produce some incredibly energetic performances and work a crowd like no other performer.

Manics! There's a band I don't get, I know they're probably good, but whenever I've tried to listen to them I can't really get enthused about it and end up drifting off to something else. I might end up loving them one day, but now I am 100% Manics apathetic. All of the other bands in the world I dislike are bands that I have cleverly identified as shitters.

I feel bad for you for not liking Leonard, you're missing out on a lot there, especially around Christmas, I've got no idea why, but Leonard Cohen's albums are best listened to when it's dark and cold and Christmas stuff is going on.

must admit, i don't give the oldies nearly as much time as i should. i spend all my time trying to discover new bands that i tend to miss out on all the old greats. i might fucking love Dylan for all i know, but i haven't given him enough of a listen, and his back catalogue is just too big for me to get my head around (which is why i tend to avoid the oldies - too much fucking material)

Yeah, I have that and Generation Terrorists on my ipod, waiting for such a time as when I decide to come around to them. Whenever I try it I always sit down and put on a "serious listening face" and try really hard to like it, mentally identify all the things that are good about it and should appeal to me, but I never really get a grasp onto it to want to listen again in a hurry. My head's in it but my heart's not. I was like that for a long time with The Flaming Lips up until a few years ago, and with The White Stripes up until 2 Saturdays ago. Now I'm buzzing off The White Stripes, about a decade after everybody else was at it.

Transmissions From A Satellite Heart is what got me into The Flaming Lips, so that may be worth yer time, Yoshimi and The Soft Bulletin are great, but going straight into them is a bit daunting.

I've got Icky Thump and Get Behind Me Satan on heavy rotation at the moment, but I'll probably be getting a couple of the earlier records pretty soon, I can't believe it's taken me this long to get into them, it's the exact kind of thing I love, I've been properly obsessed with The Dead Weather since they started and I loved Jack's solo album, I don't know why it took me this long to get into them, or why it was bloody XFM of all things to show me the light.
