Hey guys have I got a hot dinner deal for you,

For a limited time only get a pair to see Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at the lovely Brighton Dome!!! That's right, get tickets to see where Nick Cave calls home.

These bad boys are HOT and in high demand, because I bought all the tickets, but don't worry I am a good person and will only charge you lovely people £100 for the pair!!!

Thats right, only £100 for the pair!!!! I'll even meet you at a place of YOUR convenience because I value my customers

Call me on 08006887286 or to make it easy for you to remember its toutscum with 3 zeroes thrown in! Ain't I clever, I paid big bucks for that phone number... but that's okay because I sold a bunch of Paramore tickets to some crying 15 year olds and their distraught looking parents last month for only £75 a head!!

all part of the service I s'pose

they don't have to do anything. It's what they choose to do? all in the name of providing a service ? :sarcastic:

as has been pointed out, some venues do offer a refund service (sort of). But it only works for sold out shows. anything less than sold out, you're on your own.

If you have a spare ticket, you can hang around the box office waiting for people who want a ticket. If there's no demand, then maybe you could offer it to a legit punter for less than face value instead of the touts. If you just want to spend as much time in the bar as possible and couldn't give a fuck how you get the minimal amount, then yes, the tout's your friend.

I'd rather give the ticket away, and on occasion have done that. The gratitude of the punter is worth much more to me than anything a tout might offer

Touts were selling seated Arctic Monkeys tickets at the MEN last night for £150 each. Me and the missus live nearby and really wanted to see The Strypes doing the warm up. We had hoped that we could maybe get the tickets for under £70 each, but we didn't get anywhere near negotiating with these muppets.

What was interesting, was standing there and watching how the touts work the MEN. They all swarm around the Guestlist window and they hassle the VIP type folk who are clearly given a larger allocation of tickets than they need. Pay a VIP £30 for a ticket, then turn around to groups of kids, keep them hanging on, and then sell them for £100 plus....

Horrible business in my opinion, but there is a slight respect for the tactics and salesman skills of these touts who actually attend the arenas.

On a happier note, got to meet Guy Garvey, The Chinese shopkeeper from Top Boy and some tall fella from Misfits.

That's proper sized font that is.

According to Wikipedia, a tout is any person who solicits business or employment in a persistent and annoying manner (generally equivalent to a solicitor.)

    • I’ve had a good sleep and I feel weirdly zen about the whole thing.   My first Primavera, so not the greatest first impression. I guess today couldn’t be any worse, right?   Thoroughly enjoyed Men I Trust and Geese. Cupra is a beautiful stage and the crowd seemed fun, friendly and engaged.   I think it probably could have gone even worse, considering how dangerous the crowding felt at times.   Anyway, we go again.
    • Brighton centre is a weird old venue for the Mary Wallopers - a great band, a really good live spectacle, and its a saturday night as well which sets it all up - but its at the bloody Centre? a charmless nonsense of a conference centre? Brighton dome is a ten min walk away and is so much nicer a place to see bands its ridiculous!    ah well, i'll probably mosy along anyways . . .
    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
