Has anyone on here seen Alt-J live? I'm curious of how well their sound works live and on a big stage. I loved their first album and thought their second was decent too - my dilemma is that I want to be relatively deep in the NME tent for Knife Party, which means I'm debating seeing Limp Bizkit (who I do like incidentally) instead of Alt-J.

I saw them at ally pally so a pretty big venue, and it was great, pretty good light show and it still felt kind of intimate. Also nothing was lost with the size imo

If you like Limp Bizkit then go and see them :)

Fair enough, I'll see how long the clash is, hopefully catch a bit of Alt-J before Limp Bizkit. Only real issue is I think the NME tent is gonna be packed for Knife Party. Although Mumford are incredibly popular they're pretty divisive and I think a lot of people will see KP instead.

Each to their own, but I think that night will be the quietest at the NME. Mumfords are probably the most popular of the three headliners with R&L's audience (teenagers) these days. Metallica day I think will be packed in NME with Catifsh into Twin and Rebel Sound will probably hold onto a lot of that crowd and on Libs night I think loads of people will come in for Tyler straight after Kendrick and most would probably stay in for DeadMau5.

Metallica will sell a hell of a lot of day tickets, if not all of them, the field with be packed I think. I reckon they might get the biggest crowd.

True they'll most probably show the best day ticket sales, but that will make up a large portion of their crowd, imo the other two will preform better with people who've paid for weekend tickets, which is the bigger market.

I saw them last year in Manchester last year and for some of it they were great and the other they were boring but that was when they played songs from the new album which hadn't been released yet so it could be better next time around. Also it was in the Apollo and I hate that venue

Ahh that's pretty much the impression I've received from others too, I guess I'll wait for more details on times / clashes but judging by that I can't imagine I'd find them boring! :cheese:

This will be my first time at reading and can not wait. My choices so far are Jamie T, Kendrick, catfish, royal blood, the districts, libs and mumfords is their any acts I should try and see? And I am the only one who is going to watch the mumfords and sons as I see from social media alot of people are going to watch limp biscuit.

It's gonna be Knife Party not LB who clash with Mumford but I'd personally recommend Tyler, The Creator, Marmozets, Slaves and if you're at all into dance music I would highly suggest you go and see Porter Robinson!

You should definitely see Parquet Courts. I feel like I've been cursed with them, they got announced for Reading 2013 once I'd already chosen my volunteering shifts so missed them back then, and last year at Glasto I abandoned my attempts to get up to the Park for them after having seemingly most of the Atlantic Ocean dumped on my head and all the stages being shut down, so I'm thrilled they've been booked again :).

Also it would be cool if you saw Ghostpoet so that the crowd for his set is bumped up from like 4 to 5 people

    • It was never going to be great was it, there is comments of Mickey Mouse all over socials lol which is very similar to Glastonbury.  Someone I know from RIP watched Welcome to the Jungle and left and they went saying they've got to see GNR. It was the only day not to see out as well.
    • I decided to goto bed early for the Aussie game rather than stay up for Scotland. I don't regret my decision, I also love the complete over reaction during the world cup when a player has 1 good game, that Watford winger is now everyones dream signing. Its also funny when clubs get into the hype and end up overpaying for someone who then does nothing in the prem.

    • I read the Kerrang review and they didn’t seem overly positive. The definition of a 6 out of 10.
