Also I don't think it will be Mumford as I think it will be The Libertines/Metallica/Linkin Park

Linkin Park and Metallica both headlined in 2003 - have they ever rebooked two headliners alongside each other before? i know it's a full twelve years ago but would seem a bit shite (plus i just don't see them having two Download-esque headliners these days. those days are over)

The festival has changed eg needing to add a full weekend dance tent which has gone down well.

I would say a UK (or English) exclusive for Mumford & Sons is on par with a Libertines booking for this year (they could turn up at Glasto in a non-headlining spot).

How's The Libertines headlining R+L such a great booking if they're meant to be playing lower down at Glastonbury and T? A bit shite really ain't it?

Another thing - I don't get why people are jumping all over Mumford now. I thought Neil said back in November that he'd heard it was Mumfords and The Libertines and that's why they went up as a strong rumour, then they both went down to normal rumour and Libertines went back up. It's the same thing that was discussed then moved on from.

Yeah true it's probably Linkin Park.

Just bizarre that people have accepted rumours from a couple of months ago to be true because of a lineup in America. Gazza would be rolling in his (eFests) grave.

Do we know The Libertines wouldn't be headlining T?

I don't think it was the festival that made us think of Mumford. When Neil came back in to tell us all he's hearing is Libertines, Libertines, Libertines he said he'd heard from someone who is usually correct that it was them and Mumford.

Didn't realise they'd both been demoted to R and them Libs pushed back up to SR.

Based on that information, what I reckon happened is a person with a history of getting things right said it's Mumford and Libs. Based on that, Neil added both as SR. Then he heard something which made that info questionable (either hearing another act is headlining, or hearing that one of Libs/Mumford are elsewhere), so demoted them both to R. Since then he's hearing from every direction that it's Libertines and so has bumped them back up.

If the Libertines stuff is true then it makes that original info more likely to be true and is therefore why we're now suggesting Mumford again.

Perhaps. I took it as meaning he's hearing from a lot of sources that it's Libertines and only one that it's Mumfords as well. Not sure why one party would say both then go on to repeatedly say it's just Libertines. I dunno though as we have no fucking idea what goes on with that stuff. So much easier when Luckysalt feeds us the headliners way before anything.

I don't know what you're getting at kaos.

Yeah that's what I meant!

- Gets told by guy that it's Libs and Mumford so adds both as SR

- Something happens which makes him demote both to R

- Loads of other sources saying it's Libs so they're bumped back up to SR

And then this increases the probability of the original info being correct.

What on earth does this mean

I kept on seeing I hope "insert act they like here" play against Mumford

Because Alan said so but yeah people were looking at that line up poster and saying that people will play R&L based off of that when it has no bearing at all. In fact over the past few years the festivals haven't even shared headliners (but there have been acts that have played lower down at headlined at the other i.e. Arctic Monkeys) but even again it is still something that shouldn't have a line up based off

Remember if neil had information, maybe even a slightest rumour that it was Linkin Park he'd put them on the rumour page.

Remember the linkin park rumour started here... we didn't get it from anywhere else.

I guess you could say we possibly jumped the gun too early, and took something Melvin said as truth when it was probably complete bollocks.
