If you're resorting to b-sides to fill a set, then you're in a slot that's too high for you. Echoes of the Darkness!

The Darkness were the most popular band in the country when they were booked and at the end of the day you get the top spots because of popularity.

But it was clear from their set with hindsight that it was a step too far for them. Popularity is one thing (and there's no denying how big they were at the time), but if they can't play for an hour, then it was a mistake to put them there in the first place.

They did play for an hour though.

And no more. It was billed as a 90 minute set. One song they played wasn't even finished. To be fair to them, most of the hour they played was pretty good, and they'd have been a great choice to sub, but didn't have enough material to headline.

Nope they were billed for 75 mins, I remember lots of people using it as an arguement as to why they shouldn't be headlining at the time.

Royal Blood have the 10 album tracks plus Hole, You Want Me, Love & Leave It Alone and One Trick Pony. They don't play all 14 tracks live usually but if they played them all (or even 12/13 with enough dilly-dallying between songs) they could fill an hour slot easily.

This is what I was trying to say! Haha

    • Have you tried Anna von Hausswolff yet? Great singer, and she's from Gothenburg so guess she'll be extra excited to show her skills, especially after she unfortunately had to cancel her early summer dates.    Different style, but Oklou for me was the highlight of Primavera (apart from Geese), really enjoyable relaxed music.
    • A few bigger acts that did other similar festivals this year but not Truck, wouldn't be surprised to see one or two of these (if they're touring):   Reytons The Streets Blossoms Sophie-Ellis Bextor Rick Astley Scissor Sisters Dizzee Rascal   Truck on the undercard seems to rotate a lot of it every 2/3 years, expect to see some of these (if they're touring): Yard Act Sports Team Sea Girls Pale Waves Fat Dog Peace Swim Deep Courting   Hope Westside Cowboy and Radio Free Alice are booked again and get some bigger slots next year
    • I read a reliable source saying there's not enough time to stress test and have worked through any major financial decisions between now and then.   So guarantees this budget will just be tinkering at the edges only.
    • Thanks @sisco. Looking forward to it!
